Character Basics
Full Name: Vittoria Eliane Greco of Breston
Alias(es)/Nickname(s): Vita
Gender: Female
Age: Seventeen
Species: Human
Status/Title: Lady of the Archenland Court
Affiliation: Pretty neutral. If you asked, she would say Archenland, even though that isn’t really a valid answer, as Archenland isn’t presently involved in the conflict.

Character Appearance
Hair/Fur/Feathers: Her hair is a mix of red, blonde and hints of brown. It's long, past her waist, and often braided or left down to hang about her shoulders. For more important, social occasions it is otherwise arranged – pinned up as befitting a young woman of her status.
Eyes: Vittoria has striking, expressive emerald green eyes. There is always a lingering hint of coldness to them, however, and she has a difficult time convincing the warmth and openness she’s mastered painting across her face to spread to her eyes to complete the facade.
Overall: Standing at 5 feet, four inches, Vittoria is tiny and delicate looking. She has a very feminine, hourglass shape and she weighs little over one hundred and ten pounds. She’s on the smaller side, not at all muscled or toned, and takes great pride in her physical appeal to men. She prides herself on her delicate, porcelain skin, and takes great care to never get too much sun to mar it. Because she is so vain, it takes her a great deal of time to ready herself for any event, whether that be a ball, or simply going riding with a friend. She is always put together, and refuses to allow anyone to see her until she’s had at least a little time to make herself presentable. She is incredibly fussy about how she comes across, and can spend hours in front of a mirror figuring out the best angles at which to present herself. She adores fancy dresses and is never seen in anything but the best her parents can give her.

General Personality: Vittoria is not so difficult a person to understand. In fact, most can grasp her character fairly easily, if they know how to spot a liar. She does a pretty good job of putting on a show, of playing a role, of being the person she is supposed to be – in public. Secretly, her desires lay in places other than having her father find her a husband, settling down, having a family. That isn’t to say that she doesn’t wish to marry – she would happily marry for money and position, earn a little prestige, and play happy hostess to housefuls of parties. In fact, she could see herself perfectly fine to marry someone she did not much like, so long as he didn’t expect much from her. However, Vittoria is fairly content with her life at present; she gets to flirt with the eligible young men, win their favour, and play all sorts of games. She is immensely social, and would much rather spend the rest of her life flitting from suitor to suitor – finding a new one when the old one’s affection starts to wane. She’s seen too often that a young man’s affection and ardour for a young woman only lasts so long. Usually, the moment they’re married, the affection disappears. It would thus be much better, she’s decided, to go into marriage solely for the benefits, and carry on little affairs otherwise for the sake of love or affection.

She is a vain, proud and selfish young woman who is used to getting what she wants and being around other such people. She has always been doted on by her mother, and has always won the attention of those around her. She is generally well liked – at least, she has her group of friends. She is fickle, and cares about things like wealth and looks. Good intentions mean little to her, nor do things such as kindness and honour. She likes confident, powerful, assertive people – especially men. She doesn’t like genuine foolishness, stupidity, or ignorance although she’s happy to play any of those roles if it’ll help her further some game she’s playing. As a person, she’s a lot stronger than people expect, though she plays the role of delicate flower quite well. She’s happy to make people think she’s incapable of taking care of herself, because it’s a good deal more fun when other people take care of her. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t pull it off quite as well as her sister – because with her sister, the docile “act” isn’t an act, but genuine. It drives Vittoria insane when her sister gets male attention because she feels as though it ought to be directed at her.

She can be selfish, and she is certainly uninterested and unmotivated. It takes a lot to make Vittoria care about something, or someone, though her games intrigue her. She likes to pick a target, likes to attempt to make said target fall for her. She likes to see who she can win over, who she can befriend and what sorts of connections she can make. She can be incredibly charming when she wants to be. She also knows that her father’s position in court is something others might want to take advantage of, so she sees it as a bit of a trade off. She’s fine with people befriending her for what her role can give, so long as they too have something to benefit her. Because she’s manipulative and into playing with people like she does, she’s not easily fooled by other people’s facades.

It would be dishonest to say that Vittoria is without redeeming qualities, though they are well hidden and infrequently used. She is loyal to a fault, though her loyalties can sometimes be leant to the wrong sorts of people. She does dislike both her sister and her brother but in public she would never utter a foul word against them – at least, not to anyone who isn’t in her strictest confidence. Her friends can be assured of her extreme loyalty as well, and she expects the same from them. Because she can be so cruel and so conniving, she picks her friends wisely and it takes a long time before she can trust someone. Perhaps it’s the guilty conscience – she knows she is untrustworthy, and as such, feels everyone around her is also. She is intelligent, though this is more often used for her immature games or dishonest scheming than for anything beneficial. She is a quick learner, though she hates to learn because she finds it tedious. Vittoria can be immensely charming, or easily set off, depending on who she’s with and what they might say or do.

All in all, she’s vain, proud and selfish because she feels being a noblewoman puts her on some great level. She knows her place – she’d never mouth off to a prince, or a princess, or someone of upper nobility – but she aspires to climb the social ladder. She does not care for poor people, for matters of state, or for war or politics.

Character History
Family:
- LORD AGAPITO GRECO of BRESTON (father, thirty-seven, living)
- LADY CECILIA GRECO of BRESTON (mother, thirty-three, living)
- LADY MARIETTA GRECO of BRESTON (twin sister, seventeen, living)
- LORD AGOSTO GRECO of BRESTON (brother, nine, living)

General History: On the 7th day of August, at the home of Lord Agapito and Lady Cecilia Greco of Breston, twin girls were born. Even from birth the two were as different as night and day. The firstborn, a fair-haired, good natured infant named Marietta was easy on her parents and sweet. Her sister Vittoria, dark and somewhat exotic looking, bawled constantly and always demanded attention. Marietta was instantly the favourite of Agapito and he had little care for the other; Vittoria was under the charge of her mother who adored her, despite her bad nature.

Vittoria took after Cecilia, and Marietta after Agapito in appearance, and this was the way their education was divided up as well. While Cecilia would have liked equal part in both of her daughter’s lives, Agapito monopolized the upbringing of Marietta because he felt he would know best what a suitable husband would one day like as a wife. This grieved Cecilia, who would have liked to raise Marietta to be strong and independent and wise, all traits she saw as necessary in a good woman. Instead, she rose Vittoria to be strong and brave, but even Vittoria failed her. She did not enjoy her studies, she did not wish to know anything about fighting or swords or war (though these were both things her mother saw as useless in a woman, they were presented to her in an attempt to make her care about something, anything, but this attempt failed). She spent her time flirting, encouraging suitors, and dressing in beautiful and immensely expensive dresses. Vittoria was like a little version of Cecilia, beautiful, elegant, confident – though she was far more vain than either her mother or her sister, and she was often scolded for both her pride and her arrogance.

The twins grew up close, amused by the way their parents each took one of them to train and dote on – as though they could not handle both of them. Their discrepancies in education were overlooked, Vittoria was not particularly fond of learning anyway, while Marietta was. They both went riding together and while they had separate rooms they were nearly inseparable. They were often found in the same room when the morning came and they did nearly everything together. They stood up for one another, they went to each other first for opinions. Marietta did as Vittoria instructed, happy to be the follower of the two, happy to let Vittoria be the leader. Vittoria took on this position happily – she loved to look out for her “older” sister and she loved being the one that made the plans. She was a born leader.

When the girls were eight, their mother gave birth to a son, which certainly changed the family dynamic. Marietta lost a little of their father’s undying devotion, but Cecilia’s adoration stayed steadfast with Vittoria. This caused a little resentment between the sisters, and, on Marietta’s part, towards her new brother who took up so much time and attention. Vittoria did her best to cheer Marietta up, but little could be done. That isn’t to say that Cecilia did not dote on her son; perhaps Vittoria felt the shift less so than Marietta. Cecilia had always doted on Vittoria however as the woman of the house her attentions had always been a little bit of everywhere. Regardless, Vittoria did not feel the change so drastically, but she never truly liked her little brother simply because he was a spoiled little nuisance.

Both Marietta and Vittoria were pursued by suitors – but Agapito only allowed Vittoria to encourage them. Marietta was told she was too delicate and fragile to allow suitors at the time and she accepted this. Vittoria argued it, always quick to jump to the defence of her sister, but was put in her place by her father. If perhaps they had been a tad less naive, they would have seen that Agapito had big plans for Marietta – but none for his other daughter. In fact, he rarely bothered to remember her name and while this displeased his wife immensely, he didn’t seem to care so long as Marietta was utterly perfect. Vittoria could see this favouritism from a young age, but it never really bothered her – she knew full well that she was the favourite of her mother and so, in her mind, it balanced out.

At fifteen years old, she caught the interest of a well-to-do gentleman and, after a short amount of time, rumours began to spread. Her reputation was slightly darkened by those rumours, however she was content. It was, all in all, a rather secret affair which never went very far, though she thrived on the looks and scandal she caused among the young men and women. She didn’t mind being thought the mistress of a nobleman, for he doted on her quite handsomely, and though she wasn’t in love, she was happy. Marietta seemed to support her through all of this, though Vittoria could tell her sister was jealous she was happy – even if a little shamed. And then, as the months went on, Marietta seemed to distance herself as though she knew something that Vittoria did not. Regardless of how she tried to pry the information from her, Marietta would say nothing and Vittoria couldn’t help the feeling that something bad was about to happen.

As it turned out, Vittoria’s love interest had been in talks to marry Marietta. Something that only came out when the engagement was called off on account of Vittoria’s actions. Marietta was upset that Vittoria had ruined her chance at a steady marriage, and Vittoria was upset she was banned from ever seeing the man again when her parents learned what she had been up to. She was barred to the house for a while, though she’s presently allowed to leave the house again because she’s been behaving herself. She’s pretty sure her sister has forgiven her, but Vittoria still strongly dislikes her. Because of the whole thing, Marietta’s quiet sweet, docile attitude is attracting more male attention than Vittoria’s flirting.

Other/Notes: Yay for fun characters!

From one of my characters here, Lady Michala Harran.

Quote
Michala hated being here, truly. Every night as she slept on her hard, makeshift bed, she desired the warmth and comfort of her real bed back home. Every time she choked back the watery soldier’s gruel she cursed herself for even being so naive. What had prompted her to come, really? It had to have been more than the silly notion of revenge. Honestly, how had she been so stupid? It wasn’t as though she could have fought or any such thing – it had been delusional thoughts that had prompted her to come here. She looked at the blood on her hand and rinsed it off in the water once more, cringing. It stung to do so, unfortunately, but she couldn’t very well let the cut get dirty. At least she knew that much – only because she’d seen infected gashes since the damned war started and she had no desire to deal with an infection or, worse, have to lose her hand. But it was so dirty here, keeping it clean was going to be difficult.

Looking up, startled at the sound of a man’s voice, Michala jumped to her feet to see who it was. General Glozelle. He didn’t know who she was – unless Miraz made a point of mocking her for her foolishness while in the company of his companions – but she certainly knew who he was. He wasn’t as much of a terror as Miraz, not that she knew of anyway, but he wasn’t the sort that she would want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere with. Unfortunately, she currently was. Granted, she hardly knew him and kept her thoughts to herself.

Quickly grabbing the edge of her skirt – in such a way that she might both hide her injured hand and remain modest at the same time – Michala dropped into a deep, elegant curtsy. At least she had learned the social graces well; Michala was easily graceful and elegant. “My Lord,” she said sweetly, “I must beg your pardon for my current state.” She hesitated, rising as she took a glance at her unusually un-pristine appearance. How she hated war!

“I am unaccustomed to this sort of work – but anything I can do to help our king is time and effort well spent, is it not?” She hated how she had to be cheery but she must not come across as disagreeable or unhappy that she was at Miraz’s camp. “Is there anything I can do for you, sir? I’m nearly done this laundry but it could be put to the side if you have other use of me.” His orders were a good deal more important that those from the annoying old women back at camp. Not that she particularly wanted to be bossed around by the general but he made her slightly nervous and she chattered when she was nervous. Folding her hands behind her back, she fell silent, not wishing to be an annoyance.
