(EARLIER)

To be completely honest, there were times that Sephen wondered if all of this effort was worth it.

His caravan had finally reached the How where the Narnian army was stationed, and even despite the supplies he brought with him (materials to forge armor and weapons, food, fabric, tools) it seemed there was always someone watching him out of the corners of their eyes. One would think by now that if he'd had even the smallest loyalty to Miraz that he'd have given away their location by now; instead, here he was putting himself at great personal risk, and yet there was still the handful of Narnian soldiers murmuring curses and disdain under their breath. For the time being, he was walking Thane out onto the grass having left the head of his guard in charge of overseeing the caravan being unloaded; Sephen would trust Turstan with his life, something that many people found hard to come by. In any case, Thane was tired and moody from such a long walk; Sephen removed his tack, leading the horse by a rope about his neck to the small creek behind the How. He knew Thane wouldn't run away, the horse was so well trained, and thought nothing of draping the rope over his shoulder.

Though it wasn't overly difficult (yet), Sephen didn't doubt that it was going to get harder and harder to keep up with the demands of two armies; Miraz was anything but flexible, and had been far from pleased when he had first shown up to the Telmarine camp with fewer supplies than usual. Sephen didn't expect his excuses to fly forever, but while they could, he was stretching his supply lines thin. A little gratitude would be nice, at least...

Hearing something behind him, Sephen's hand instinctively went to the dagger in his belt, and he couldn't help but feel a bit stupid upon discovering it was but one of the children that the Narnians referred to as one of their Kings and Queens of Olde.

((Meh, lost my train of thought at the end there....))

Kitsune strayed away from the meaning.  She was getting quite bored with it because she didn't even trust Caspian in the first place.  She got a good ways away when she heard Stephen.  She decided to hide but snapped a twig on her way to a bush.  That was what Stephen heard.

((Actually, this should take place after our current place in the plot, since Lucy has yet to reach the How. Also, I suppose having this thread at all assumes we're following the movie timeline more than the book.))

Lucy was really back in Narnia. She was finally starting to truly believe it, after several days of walking through the land, meeting so many new friends, and even seeing Aslan himself. It was a dream come true for her, but not all was as she hoped. Her old friends were long dead, Narnia was overtaken by invaders, and even the landscape had changed drastically.  Worse, few believed she'd seen Aslan. It was like that first time in Narnia, all over again. Nobody had believed she'd gone through a wardrobe and found another world, but she'd proved them all wrong. Susan and Peter seemed to have forgotten that, and now, once again, they were treating her like a baby. Edmund, she thought fondly, believed her, but then, he had learned his lesson the hard way last time.  She shuddered as she always did to think of what might have happened if Aslan had not stepped in and saved him.  And the Great Lion would save Narnia again, she fervently believed, though it would be in His time and not theirs.

Lucy had come out into the woods, just beyond the camp, for some quiet.  She loved being with people, but she also enjoyed having time to herself for reflection. And, even if she wouldn't admit it to everyone, she was really hoped to see Aslan again, and being in the woods, alone, somehow seemed the best way to do that.  The last time she was in Narnia, she’d always felt closest to Aslan when she was alone and surrounded by nature, even if He wasn’t physically there.

Instead of the Lion, however, Lucy found herself meeting someone else as she walked by a small creek. He was a human, which was rather unusual, particularly since she hadn’t met him before.. The arrival of the Pevensies had about doubled the number of humans in the camp; most of the army was composed of various Talking Creatures.  Smiling brightly and giving a little curtsey (which she was once more getting used to, after a year of simply shaking hands), she greeted him, “Hi! I’m Lucy.  Who’re you?”

Kitsune saw the human girl.  She was surprised.  Could this be the fabled Queen Lucy?  But she was more than 100 years old, and this girl looked only in her teens.  She wondered what was going on.  She wanted to make herself known, but figured it was best to wait because it seemed like she was busy with someone else.  She'd heard that Lucy liked animals, but this couldn't be her.  It just wasn't possible.
