Ok, it's not so much of an absense as a heads up! I'm not going to be ultra around for the next little while; I'll still check in, post, etc. (And no, it's not because of LOST, even if that has been eating up my time lately lol).

I work in retail. We have a small store, some 5 employees. My manager put in her two weeks notice... three weeks ago. And we still don't have a new manager. Which means that for this past week, the assistant manager was acting manager and I've been acting assistant. Next week will follow the same pattern, though I did request fewer hours so I have some time to myself, and to catch up on my sites. The week after, however, is going to be a challenging week. That's the week that the assistant is on vacation.

Which means that I'm a keyholder (essentially a regular old sales associate, except I've been trained on how to open and close shop, how to do returns and exchanges, etc) who's acting assistant... acting manager. In a span of three weeks, I'll be keyholder, then acting assistant, then acting manager, then back to acting assistant. We're hoping it's going to be made official, so I'll actually get assistant's pay, because we've not got much hope of a new manager any time soon.

Just thought I'd give you a head's up. I also get to be acting manager during one of the worst weeks of the month - Markdowns. If you've ever been in a Claire's store, you'll know how much jewellery is in there. Markdowns means we have to take a hand scanner and scan every item in the store to see if it's on sale. You'd think they could just send us a list. But no, no, they like to make things difficult for us.

Just an update!

Hey guys, I’m so sorry I’ve been so inactive. I should have posted this BEFORE everything got crazy, but I didn’t realize how draining it all would be!

Basically my manager, Robyn, quit at work, and with no one to replace her right away, the assistant manager, Anna, was the “temporary manager” and I was the “temporary assistant”. Which was all well and good except I am NOT used to working 40 hours a week. And then last week, Anna went on vacation, which meant I was the temporary assistant, temping as manager. 

Anyways, this is our last week without a manager, the new one starts on Monday. Which is good and bad – good because it won’t be so crazy for me... bad because I’m down to 13 hours. At least for next week. But starting next week I’ll be getting all caught up and I’ll be around again. <3
