Overall: Ardesco is a harpy, and as such displays both human and avian traits; his head, torso and upper arms are that of a human's, and his legs, lower arms and wings are bird. The human half sports a tanned complexion both from inheritance from his parents as well as spending the vast majority of his time exposed to sunlight; his hair is black and kept short for practical purposes. Perhaps Ardesco's most distinguishing feature (besides his harpy traits) are his blue eyes, which are quite a rarity with the mountain flock's gene pool, but it is a trait he is rather fond of, being the only one with them. His avian half is covered with black feathers; while his tail is completely black, the rest of Ardesco's feathers tend to be various shades of black with mottling of brown and tawny.
Since Ardesco is a mountain-dwelling harpy, he is not built quite the same as a forest harpy. Having a lot of open flying space but having to stay aloft for long periods of time, he boasts a 19-foot wingspan, perfect for spending a lot of time in the air but not very good for hairpin turns or abrupt stops. Ardesco's feet and hands are also much larger, though the talons are more worn down from use clinging to rocks and the sides of cliffs; climbing and clinging has also built Ardesco's physique into a more muscular, stocky one. Not confined to a limited amount of space, Ardesco is also quite large for a harpy, at 200lbs and standing 6 feet 10 inches standing at full height (though with the build of his legs, relaxed he stands a good 4 inches shorter).
Since resources in the mountains are very scarce (especially the cliffs Ardesco's flock inhabit) and sun exposure tends to make their environment a hot one, clothing is more or less forgone save for an animal hide wrapped about the waist and tied. Ardesco, like others, does tend to bundle up more in the cold winter months, though even then the harpy's fast metabolism and heart rate keep him warm just like others of his kind. Ardesco does not have any armor to speak of, since he and his flock have never been threatened in their harsh, impossible-to-reach home.
Unlike the forest harpies, however, Ardesco is able to use human speech; it is presumed that because of their isolated and seemingly uninhabitable home, this particular group of harpies did not have to stay quiet when they fled to the mountains and maintained their ability to speak. He has, though, learned to mimic the noises other animals make, particularly other birds' noises.
Ardesco is also the eldest of a set of triplets, though there are a few subtle differences between himself and his brothers Breenan and Dennik; though much less obvious to outsiders, members of the flock can differentiate between him and his brothers by the patterns of their feather mottling. Ardesco, in particular, is recognizable by his solid-black tail and having the largest wingspan of his brothers. Most notably, perhaps, is his eye color; while Breenan and Dennik sport gray eyes like their mother Jinzi, Ardesco has inherited his grandfather's blue eyes and makes no secret of the fact that he enjoys this small difference.

General Personality:Ardesco, despite being the oldest of three boys, is something of a goofball; though he can be responsible when the situation calls for it, when it's not particularly serious he will go to all kinds of lengths to avoid being given a task that he doesn't enjoy. Usually this involves anything that would require him to venture down to the bottom of the cliffs where his flock lives, or up to the top of the cliff where he'd have to make a running take-off.
