((Ooc Note: This is the beginning of part two of the mini-plot. All characters have managed to make it into the caves/tunnels. The first plot thread will be locked and moved on April 8th so please finish up whatever you need to finish up on there before joining this thread. Keep in mind that you can post here before April 8th. It's open now. Thanks!))

With the storm raging outside the tunnels, and the many caves that held nervous Narnians within, there was little Caspian could do to improve their situation. They had stored the most that they could ? he hoped that it was enough that they weren?t set back too far. If he had been concerned that he was completely useless earlier, he was nearly certain of it now. It hadn?t even really been him overseeing all the storm preparations. He had made a couple of suggestions but he hadn?t been surprised if no one had followed them ? what did he know about storms? About survival? About war? What did he know about anything, beyond expensive living and fancy toys? Exquisite foods? What good was he at all? But then, he had time to change, to improve as a ruler. He supposed that even being out here, even being willing to actually live like this and fight for the oppressed people of Narnian ? not that he wasn?t rather oppressed himself, at present - was a point on his side. He hoped so, at least.

Glancing over in the direction of their tied up prisoner, Caspian sighed and shook his head. What to do with Adimon? If the man was telling the truth ? which he certainly looked to be ? and actually had amnesia of a sort, what good was he to them? Caspian knew it would certainly come back to haunt him; the girl who had seemed so wholly in favour of killing their prisoner would only have more to use against him, to make him look foolish. And perhaps the decision to help Miraz?s advisor was foolish, but that didn?t change the fact that Caspian was not a murderous sort of man ? or boy. Nor could he ever imagine himself to be. While Adimon had doubtlessly been spying, or at least attempting to, he had in actuality done them no harm. Besides, who knew when he would remember what was going on? Maybe he could prove useful to them yet.

He was still rather unnerved by that girl?s outburst; her open disdain and dislike for him was bothersome. He knew, deep down, that there had to be more than just her who disliked him because of his parentage. But it was not his fault that he was human, that he was Telmarine. Should he not be judged on his actions; actions that were very much on their side, very much good and noble actions? He wondered if he would ever get away from it. Not likely, but perhaps it would lessen over time. He hoped so.

Glancing around the caves about him, Caspian wished they hadn?t all had to have been so cramped and crowded. With all the supplies ? tents, food, weapons, armour, and whatever else they had managed to save from the storm ? and the varying sizes of the creatures within,

There wasn?t a lot of space for movement. There was also another downside to the crowdedness of the caves ? if anyone fell ill, it would not be long before nearly everyone fell ill. That was a frightening thought indeed.

Leaning against the wall of the cave and staring out at the opposite wall with a frustrated sigh. He wondered how long this storm could last ? by the looks of it, perhaps even a couple of days. There was no doubt that things were going to get bad, for putting that many different creatures in caves together could only end in unnecessary squabbling. He just hoped no injuries came of it.

The sound of the rain was soothing, but could hardly be distinguished amongst the commotion that had erupted within the walls of the tunnels. Varying forms of creatures and mortals alike grunted and sighed and tossed about commands as though each of them were a separate captain attempting to gain the upper hand amongst a rowdy crew. Everyone was restless, she could see it. Their weary eyes bespoke of uncertainty, doubt and confusion. Her own cat-like eyes remained hard however, almost brittle like chiselled emeralds. Some might wager she had lost her ability to experience emotion, but that was not true. She simply excelled at hiding the anxiety and frustration that stirred beneath her calm exterior. Her seemingly apathetic demeanour was also affected by the fact that she felt so completely suffocated by the cramped environment. Even when she?d been sitting alone within the camp where it was a relatively open area she longed for the freedom the trees and bushes afforded her. Watching the small, mismatched army attempting to settle within the meagre confines of the cave had her shuddering, and she organized a few supplies as tidily as she could before moving gracefully towards the mouth of their makeshift refuge.

Almost immediately she spotted him standing there, lounged silently against the damp stone wall with his back turned to her. Lirain slowed to a halt a few meters away, assessing his posture. She knew it was the Prince; she recognized the charming disarray of his dark hair and the worn but elegant clothes he wore. Her thoughts drifted back to the argument they?d had earlier, realizing exactly how foolish it had been on her part considering the risk she?d taken to ignore the oncoming storm simply for the chance at voicing her opinion. Still, she stood by what she had said. That man ? Adimon ? was a criminal. Just because he appeared to be sorry for himself at being caught in the act didn?t mean they were to drop their guard and pity him. This was war, and that was not the way things were meant to be done. Caspian was much too na?ve in the workings of battle. Still a boy accustomed to silver dishes and feathered pillows, his discomfort and inexperience was apparent through the smallest of gestures.

Lantern light shone upon her red hair as she dared to approach their leader, chin lifted and gaze trained on his lanky figure with determination, but not the hostility she?d demonstrated before. Now that they were alone and she had, had time to think about it, the anger was less present as she moved up alongside him. ?I can see where you are coming from, but I guarantee your hopes are much too high where they lay with that traitor.? The woman?s voice was silky and low, but offered no threat. ?You should save your compassion for the people that fight alongside you, Prince.?

She was exhausted, but she was too tired to sleep. She watched as the rain poured down outside and as the smoke billowed within the cave. It seemed, that for a time, the Old Narnian forces would be slaves to the elements. She'd already seen three people with the sniffles and more with exhaustion. Was it only a few nights ago that she had slept on the open, looking up at the sky?

She shook her head. Daydreaming was helping no one. She walked down into the cave where many were lying down or resting against the cave walls. It was damp in here already and the smoke was helping no ones lungs. She flitted from side to side, trying to help as many as she could with the little supplies she had left. After a half hour her fingers ached. She stumbled to the edge of the cave, hoping for a cool breeze when all she got was a damp gale. Elba stepped back, her eyes squinted and her frame shivering. As she backed away her eyes caught the uncounscious prisoner, tied up snugly in the corner. She had tried her best to make sure he was comfortable, but it was hard in this environment. Elba shook her head an dleaned back againt the cave wall, the cold rock waking her up slightly. Across from her she recognized Prince Caspian, who looked troubled beyond words.

?I can see where you are coming from, but I guarantee your hopes are much too high where they lay with that traitor.? The woman?s voice was silky and low, but offered no threat. ?You should save your compassion for the people that fight alongside you, Prince.?

Elba turned slowy to the voice and recognized the creature Lirain. Elba knew she was half human and knew that she had caused the Prince a bit more than a spot of discomfort. But Elba also knew that she agreed with most of what the woman had said. Could Caspian really let go of the ties that bound him, even to a man who had tried to kill him? With an amnesiac who could be of little to no use to them, but more of a burden, what would his compassion amount to?

She looked towards him and noticed that he looked more than a little peaked. She didn't want to inturrupt but the Healer inside her would not stay quiet. She leaned forward.

"Your Majesty." she said a bit more sternly than she'd meant to "You must rest. This weather and the-"

But she cut herself off. Worrying over the Prince did not help his cause or his apperance.  She paused and rethought her statement.

"If you are to lead your troops you must be healthy. That is all I meant..."

Caspian supposed that things weren?t as bad as they could have been. The storm would have to end, eventually ? he could see no way around that. The storm would stop, they would be free of these blasted caves, and the battle could go on. Alright, two out of three wasn?t bad. He was in no particular mood to go back to fighting any time soon. How long would those little raids, periodic scuffles and the sending of spies go on? He had sounded the good Queen Susan?s horn and, while help had been promised at the sounding of the horn years ago, Caspian was beginning to suspect that such helpful powers were only for the Queen of old. After all, if help was coming, would it not already be here?

?I can see where you are coming from, but I guarantee your hopes are much too high where they lay with that traitor. You should save your compassion for the people that fight alongside you, Prince.?

Sighing in annoyance, Caspian did not even need to turn in order to recognize the speaker that stood behind him. A voice so deceptively innocent was not easily forgotten ? he had been stung by her words once before and he would not stoop to her level again. At least, that was the plan. Though, at least this time they weren?t surrounded by an audience of onlookers.

?I failed to take notice of your name, good lady,? he said wryly, turning to take sight of the red haired maiden he had very much figured the speaker to be. ?I dare say that alone will put me at a disadvantage ? instead of taking time to ponder what I can say to defend myself against your harsh accusations and keep my people from worrying where my loyalties lie, I?ll be wondering who it is I must defend myself against.?

The presence of another caught his attention and he nodded a simple greeting at the approaching woman. He wasn?t sure what he had been hoping to hear from her, but it certainly wasn?t what she actually said. He had hardly a moment to issue a formal greeting before she was telling him firmly that he must rest. Frowning slightly, he noticed how she backtracked and changed tactics.

?It is a pity that rest is such an necessity,? he said, glancing out towards the pouring rain once more. ?Look at the place I?ve gotten myself into. I?ve got two lovely women very much upset with me. Why? Because I show mercy to an enemy ? hardly the most horrid thing I can do, especially considering the rule you all have been under for so long ? and because I?m not nearly as rested as I could be. Is anyone truly rested? Is anyone truly well? Can we be until this wretched war is over??

Shaking his head with the faintest of chuckles, Caspian ran a hand through his hair. ?Elba, the whole camp is talking about how wonderful it is to have you here. You have done a good deal for this camp and I am grateful. I will rest in a while; I understand that it would be rather horrible if we all were to fall ill when the rain clears.?

Turning to the other young woman, Caspian looked at her in amusement. ?And you, how will I defend my words and actions to you? Is it even worth the bother??

Roani was extremely happy that Elba had come at the time she did. If the healer hadn't, she didn't know what she would've done or what would've happened to Richard. The girl didn't even want to think about it. Richard's whispered words of thanks had set Roani thinking of a free Narnia. That was what everone of them wanted, what they had wanted for a long time. Roani didn't know if she believed it would actually happen, all she could do was hope and pray that it would.

After holding the knight's hand and moving him farther into the cave to a bed, the huntress had sat leaning against the wall next to him. Knowing he needed to rest, Roani didn't talk, she just sat there gazing at his still form. But now the girl was feeling alittle hungry. "I'll be back in alittle bit, Richard. I'm getting something to eat." Kissing his brow and rising to her feet, Roani plodded off to find her sack. One of the Beavers had grabbed it out of her tent when they were moving into the caves. Now she just had to find it. The animal had said something about it being in another cave a few paces farther in, with the rest of the Beaver's things.

So Roani walked down the tunnel, giving greetings to those Narnians that she passed. Many were drying themselves off or moving things around and becoming organized. A faun was having particularly hard time with some heavily packed bags, so as he dropped one or two, Roani picked them up and placed them where the faun asked her to. When they had stacked them up in a "storage" cave, Roani kept on with her walk.

Finally she came to the cave the Beaver had told her about. Her eyes caught sight of His Highness talking with Healer Elba and another woman. Roani didn't know the woman's name, but wouldn't have liked too for she was berating Prince Caspian about something. It seemed to be the man on the floor beside the group. Roani could see he was tied up and that caught her attention even more than the woman talking rudely to the Prince. But not wanting to be accused of nosiness, Roani walked into the Beaver cave and located her bag. The girl went back to the mouth of the small cave and making sure the group couldn't see her, stood listening to their words.

Cross finally got the time to rest, Roani had apparently said something about going for food...that didn't matter much as she would return but the kiss on the brow had him feel content and cared for. He didn't know what the future would hold for them, hopefully a free Narnia by no doubt but he couldn't help but think of what could be.
Having the thought enter his head he quickly shewed it away as he thought it wasn't the time to think of such things. But reconsidering the circumstances he knew he had to rest and thus it gave him much time to think of many things awaiting to cross his mind.

He did not know where the Gryphon had gone, somewhere close he hoped. He marveled at the creature, it all came from his childhood when his dad first talked about them. Gryphons weren't common when with the Telmarines, he only saw one once when he was in hiding with his parents and it didn't fare well with it as it was cornered by Telmarine soldiers. What resulted from such a fray he did not know, he had left with his father to a safer place when the situation occurred.

Hearing much noise from the Old Narnians, he thought it wise to ease drop on their conversations. It would entertain him for the time being, it was the only entertaining thing he could do in his condition. Some spoke of the war, others of the storm, and then many were grumbling about food. Typical, in a time like this it was the great giants who were always hungry...

Sitting up slightly he wondered what was taking Roani so long, he could take care of himself, he thought, but he missed her presence...more than the flowers missed the sun at night. It was as if she held a key to his entire being, understanding and rectifying all that needed attention within him...
Realizing the deep affection that had developed in such time brought much thought to mind, but he would have none of it. At the current time he just wanted to give her everything he had to offer, along with providing the camp with his best efforts.

The tunnels were rather cramped, or so Eboni had decided. Not that there was anything to do about it while they weathered out the rather frightful storm. She ruffled up her feathers at the feel of dampness that had permeated the caves. After initially drying off a bit and preening her feathers into a semblance of order the gryphon deiced to explore the caverns. For she had decided that this indeed was the army she had heard rumors about. Proudly she clacked her beak, pleased to have found them. Quietly she hoped to be able to introduce herself to Prince Caspian and declare her wishes to serve.

Glancing around with aqua colored eyes Eboni got up and began to explore, careful to not step on anyone smaller than her as she weaved her way around the clusters of Narnians. Her size proved to be a little more of a challenge and for one she was grateful to be a bit smaller than some of the larger ones of her kind.

?Excuse me, pardon me,? she said as she careful weaved past several people. Tightly she folded her wings against her back as she crept past a thinner turn in the tunnel.

?This is awkward, I see no one I recognize...? Eboni thought to herself, feeling a little self conscious as she tapped her claws shyly on the ground, ?it would be nice to sit with someone I know and talk??

Sidestepping a group of giants the gryphon moved past until she spotted beds, curiously her ears perked forward she walked by until she stopped near the bed Sir Richard occupied. She canted her head to the side as she regarded him, ?ahh! The human from before, he was wounded..?

?Ah Hello again, your looking much better if I may say so.? Eboni called out as she shuffled her feet.

Distracted from his thought he turned to see the Gryphon.
Smiling he spoke, "Yes, I'm doing very well in fact. I would've been a dead man if it was not for both Roani and Elba."
He had decided that he had rested enough, he was often very restless and after feeling weak and tiresome he was now regaining strength.
"Your feathers are still wet I see, a new addition to the camp are thee?" He played cheerfully with his words.

"If so welcome, you are always welcome here." He slowly got to his feet using the wall for support. He was still trying to regain his balance it seemed. With a smile and a look he was up to the mark, ready for a rather short conversation. He wanted to find Roani and of course he wouldn't mind if the Gryphon came along as well. He always admired them and being so close to one felt like being a child filled with excitement.
"My name is Sir Richard Cross, at your service and ready to defend" In saying those last words he twitched in pain as his left arm stung him again.
"And you are?..."

Eboni relaxed her wings slightly, ears pricked forward as she listened with interest. A shy semblance of a smile crept at the corners of her beak. At the mention of wet feathers she turned her head and stretched a wing slightly to look at it.

?Yes indeed I am new, wet they may be but at least they are no longer sticking out at odd angles,? she countered with a humorous glint in her eyes. Turning back to Sir Richard she dipped her head low in a polite gesture, ?I am pleased to hear I am welcome, for I have come a long way??

Side stepping lightly Eboni watched as Richard rose from his bed, using the wall for support. Taking another step to the side she positioned herself in a silent gesture near enough to offer support  to the injured man if he so needed. Pleasantly she regarded Richard before placing one talon?s hand to her chest, ?Well Sir Richard, I am honored to meet you. Indeed I am.. I am Eboni Silverfeather though just Eboni suits me rather nicely.?

Craning her neck downward a little she eyed his bandages, ?should you be up so soon?? she asked thoughtfully.

"Elba said I needed to rest, but I'm quite restless." Cross looked around seeing he was the only one actually resting in bed.
"Eboni, that's a nice name", he cracked a smile upon giving his response.

"I'm a little weak but better than before, perhaps you can assist me in walking through these caves?" He was already anxious to leave the bed area; he couldn't stand to stay still any longer. He also wanted to be near Roani if she was near-by.

Still awaiting Eboni's response he perked up a new question, "You say you're from afar...how far exactly?"

With his feet regaining balance he stood firmly while leaned slightly towards the Gryphon in case he needed support. She was kind enough to position herself in that manner in case he needed something. Looking at the many things brought in from the camp he realized a few flowers, presumably belonging to the dwarfs. He wanted to know if he could have some to give to a little someone who was a great help to him in getting help.

Eboni nodded her head slightly, ears flicking in understanding, ?ah yes, I believe I can understand that indeed?? being restless by nature she understood the drive of not wanting to stay in one place for too long.

?Of course, if you need assistance feel free to lean upon me,? the gryphon further added with a smile, ?it wouldn?t do to have you fall now would it??

Keeping herself in position to offer support Eboni waited for Richard to gain enough balance to walk, her aqua colored gaze not leaving him in case he should overbalance or fall. Canting her head slightly she mused over his latest question, tapping her talons on the floor slightly as she thought.

?Ah, lets see.. the last place I was before coming here was around glass water creek to the south of it. After that I made my way here, but I have been to quite a few different places in Narnia during my lifetime,? she further added proudly.

Cross rested a hand on Eboni's back, "So you're quite the traveller I see. Let's move through this cave opening, it should lead to many others."
He looked around for his sheath and shield but they weren't anywhere near. He knew it had been taken and placed somewhere close, he didn't feel comfortable going without his equipment but he knew deep down that there would be no sign of danger.

A dwarf passed by to pick up the collection of flowers, upon picking them up Cross asked if he could have some. Apparently the dwarf had brought them in to make the caves more appealing but after much thought he decided that it was a lost cause. In reaching that conclusion he gave them to Cross. Tulips, roses, and violets all in his hands. They were of the best he'd seen judging by their appearance, colour, and health. "Hey Eboni, this is rather off topic but...do you think Roani would like these?" Having said this he blushed, first time ever he had considered giving a woman flowers, a very common and often over-used technique to show one's affection but he didn't care. There was nothing that he could do better, at least nothing he could think of.

Having asked the question he put his right arm on Eboni and started to make his way slowly to the other opening within the cave.

{doing this quickly. excuse the badness}

The group had stopped talking so Roani pretended to be checking the contents of the bag. She quickly stepped into the rocky corridor and walked back the way she had come. The girl still wondered at why the woman was arguing with Prince Caspian and who the trussed-up newcomer was. But those thoughts dispersed when her eys caught sight of Richard and the Gryphon making their way down the tunnel.

Rushing over to the man, the huntress looked at him in worry. "Richard! Why are you moving around?" Even as she spoke those words, a smile tugged at her lips. Maybe the knight was feeling a whole lot better. Maybe he would recover and be well by the time the storm was over with. Roani glanced at the female Gryphon and remembered her manners. She swept a low bow towards the regal creature. "Forgive me. I am Roani Donova, huntress of Narnia." Then, turning back to the wounded knight, Roani gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

Having the girl peck his cheek made him blush again, he was getting tired of always blushing and trying to hide the smile.
"Here", handing her the flowers, "I know it isn't much but, these are for you my Lady." He bowed and once more kissed her hand in a polite and kind gesture.

"I do have to say, I'm feeling much better. I am also quite restless so I wish not to be seated all the time." He was starting to hate the cave already, he felt like he'd rather be in the storm than be inside. The cave was often dark and it smelled as all the Narnians were crunched up together. He missed nature, the clouds, the rain, all that he admired and cared for when he could.

"Eboni has been keeping me company", turning to her, "quite the creature I say..."

Eboni dipped her head before moving at a slow pace alongside Sir Richard. She smiled slightly when he rested a hand on her back. It was a strange feeling helping someone along like this, one she wasn?t used to. Still it pleased her to be of assistance. Canting her feathered head to the side she regarded the conversation between the knight and the dwarf with interest. More so when the dwarf decided to let Richard have the flowers. She couldn?t help but chuckle, a rumbling sound deep in her throat, at the sight.

?Flowers? Oh so the knight has a Lady friend?? she drooled out with a knowing smile, before regarding the flowers seriously and took a sniff, ?Roani is the lady you were with earlier yes? I don?t know her so I can?t say for sure but...? she gestured dramatically with one talon?s foot, ?I believe most Ladies like flowers. As it is the thought that counts??

Slowly she started forward again at a slow pace, happily walking along. Until she heard a women?s voice calling for Richard. Halting her pace the gryphon looked over her shoulder to see a Lady approaching. One that looked familiar.

?Ahh so it?s her from before,? Eboni mused to herself then dipped her head back in a polite gesture to Roani, ?Eboni Silverfeather, an honor to meet you??

She watched on with that knowing smile as Sir Richard offered Roani the flowers, pleased she had been right.

Seeing that the conversation had turned back to her and with a compliment Eboni felt rather pleased at the compliment. Though she had this urge to suddenly start preening and make her appearance more acceptable. Resisting that urge she tilted her head to the side and placed a forefoot against her chest, ?why I am more than happy to keep you company. For one misses regular conversation when they find them absent,? Eboni clacked her beak slightly and swished her tail.

Roani blushed pure red when Richard handed her the flowers and kissed her hand. She bent her head quickly, to hide the embarassing coloring. Giggling, the girl smiled at the gallant knight. "Why thank you! I love them." Listening to his next words made the girl yearn for the end of the storm.

"I do have to say, I'm feeling much better. I am also quite restless so I wish not to be seated all the time."

"I feel the same way. Being restless I mean. It's quite annoying to be stuck in the caves all this time and it has only been a few hours since we arrived. We could take a walk, and explore." She shrugged to imply it was just a suggestion. Hoping the others would make one, Roani looked to the Gryphon.

?Eboni Silverfeather, an honor to meet you?? The Lady Beast was well-mannered and kind. Roani felt as though they would be good friends, she just hoped there was enough time to get to know her before the fighting started again.

"You've been keeping him company? I hope Sir Cross hasn't gotten into to much trouble," the light tone spoke of teasing and Roani laughed along with her words. She leaned towards the knight and rumpled his hair, teasing him further.

Cross laughed as she rumpled his hair, he loved the sense of comfort that she gave with every word and action.
"Yes why don't we go for a walk", looking towards Eboni he made the respectful gesture as to say 'Leave us alone for a tad bit'
It seemed Eboni well understood the situation, whether Eboni followed or not was up to her but Cross felt it was necessary that he have some time alone with her.
He wanted to talk with her, let out all that he hid inside...do what he couldn't do before...enter a commitment of some sort...the way a knight would hold ties to a lady.

Cross led the way, hand gently holding hers and a smile stretched on his face. "Perhaps with all this time we could...I don't know...get to know each other." He felt quite inadequate saying those words, not firm in his approach but trying to overcome that barrier of profound shyness of his.
Walking slowly he looked at her, hazel colored eyes inviting her on a journey with him...a respectable journey beyond friendship.

Her grey eyes found his hazel ones and Roani smiled. "I'd like that." was the answer to his suggestion of earlier. "I'd like to know more about you." She squeezed his warm hand with her cold one as they walked. It was becoming darker further down in the caves, but some of the Old Narnians were lighting torches.

"Well, I'll let you ask inquire first. What do you want to know, Sir Knight?" Another smile tugged at the edges of her mouth. Roani looked away shyly, this walk was going to be interesting. But she really did want to know more about her Knight. The girl already knew he was gallant and kind and sweet, but what else?

Eboni listened politely, chuckling softly, ?no no he?s not been too much trouble. In fact I?d be more likely to be into trouble,? he gryphon winked and clacked her beak in good humor.

Looking back and forth between the lady and knight she eyed Sir Richard for a moment when he suggested a walk with the lady. Eboni blinked and then dipped her head very slightly. She understood the situation, the knight wished to be alone with the Lady. Ruffling her wings slightly Eboni spoke up, ?I am afraid my stomach is feeling quite empty, and with the storm I can?t hunt. So I will go see what else I can find to eat. Then I need to see about speaking with someone in charge? if you both will excuse me?? the gryphon commented good naturedly.

Backing out Eboni turned to leave with a knowing smirk on her beak. Turning she began to trot down the cavern as her talons clicked on the floor. Pausing a moment she turned to look over her shoulder, ?enjoy your walk!?

His mind raced back and forth with questions that he could possibly ask her.
"Well uh, why don't you tell me of your parents then...where you came from and what exactly you stand for...and to add to that..." He paused not knowing how to word out what he was thinking. He had the clearest impression she was not attached to someone, but he had to be absolutely sure.
"...Are you in any way...emotional attached to someone, as in, a sort of close relationship?"

The caves were getting darker as they walked further in, this he found to enjoy as he would not have to always look at the rocky cave walls of which were quite boring and unappealing. He would then either look into the dark or into Roani's beautiful and gentle grey eyes.

Knowing he asked many questions he prepared to receive quite a good response. Not too in depth but not too simple either. He thought to himself, 'Step 1...fully grasp who she is and where she comes from....Step 2....Ease in with the conversation..." That was as far as he could go, he would leave the rest to the momentum that carried those two and hope that she is the one holding the key to his heart...

She glanced at him, considering her responses. The subject of her parents still rubbed her raw in some situations, the girl hoped this one wouldn't. "So many questions call for answers." Grinning before she spoke again, Roani looked to the tunnel that stretched out before them.

"Hm. Well my history is not too long, but I don't know much about my parents, only what the Old Narnians have told me. My mother and father were Telmarians, yet they sought out the Narnian resisters to join their cause and took me along with them. I was just a few days or weeks old when they were captured in a raid. The Old Narnians raised me and tought me to be loyal to Narnia and the Kings and Queens of Old." No tears came to her eyes, and the huntress was glad for it. It would've been embarrassing to cry infront of Richard.

"I stand for what the Beasts raised me to be. A good, kind-hearted, though quick-tempered, huntress of Narnia. I will fight for this land and its inhabitants with my very last breath." She smiled at his next question. The knight seemed to be so embarrassed asking it, he just blurted it right out. "No. I am not involved in a relationship with anyone. Who is there here to be?" Roani didn't mean that rudely, she was just pointing out the fact that Richard and Prince Caspian were the only men she knew of that were in the Camp. And the girl certainly wasn't going after Caspian.

He understood the situation with her parents, he too went through something similar but he was at least old enough to remember how they looked like.
"You're story is familiar with mine. My parents were also Telmarines, after seeing Miraz' brutality they thought it best to join with the Old Narnians. Of course they were also captured like yours, my father first and then my mother later followed. What haunts me is the fact that I do remember them and very well, and it was the day they were executed that brought much anguish into my life. They always raised me to be a nice person, forgiving, thoughtful and just. But ever since the execution of my parent's I've had a deep anger grow deep within me, a deep desire for vengeance against King Miraz..." He was stern and bitter when speaking those words, wishing he didn't have to live with it every single day of his life.

But from such a stern talk he quickly eased back into gentleness, "I can understand your past and perhaps even your pain, if there is any." He was aware that although she did not shed a tear she did in fact feel some discomfort in saying what she did. He felt bad for asking the question but it did seem to serve well as now they can both understand each other's loss.

In response to her answer of a relationship he once again felt uneasy and shy. But for the first time the saying 'butterflies in my stomach' was true for him, it felt that way every time she was near him.
"Forgive me for asking if this does seem unreasonable for you, but I was wondering..." He had little experience with women in this aspect but his looming desire was what kept him striving for what always seemed so hard to attain, the path to a woman's heart.
"Perhaps we could be something more than just friends?" Saying that, he smiled and stopped his feet from walking anymore.
No Narnians were close to them at the moment and with that he got closer and caressed her hair gently.

She listened to his story in earnst. It did seem like the two humans were very close in the aspect of their pasts. It pained her to hear his words though, it brought back suffering from her childhood. "Atleast you knew what they looked like. The Narnians could give me a clear enoguh description." Her hand squeezed Richard's in way of comfort, telling him she understood.

"I can understand your past and perhaps even your pain, if there is any." Those gentle words brought the huntress a world of comfort she had never known. Someone to understand her, help her, believe in her.

"Perhaps we could be something more than just friends?" She stopped walking when he asked that question. It shocked the girl and she turned to look at him, with a nervous smile. Not really sure how her voice would sound, the girl whispered, "Yes." Leaning into his hand, Roani smiled.

He smiled upon hearing her response, her voice a little shaky but welcoming.
"Roani," his smile disappeared and in its place came a seriousness, "As a knight of Narnia I gave my life to it. To defend, to fight for, to cherish and care for...so I will do the same with you. As long as blood flows through my body and my heart keeps pumping I'll defend you, fight for you, cherish and care for you..."

His smile reappeared as he hugged her, a feeling so deep and fulfilling of contentment filled him with warmth. He had almost forgotten his arm was injured and in hugging her he provoked a sore pain in it. He wasn't going to let it ruin the moment, "Let's fight for Narnia together..."

A feeling of warmth and pure happiness was washing through Roani with the man's speech. It brought tears, those that she hadn't shed for her parents, though she was crying now. No one had ever spoken to her this way, with so much kindness and good.

As they embrassed the huntress smiled and pulling back, looked into his warm, hazel eyes. "Oh Richard." She breathed. That was all she could say, all she could think to say. These overwhelming feelings were taking Roani's very words from her. But through that haze, the girl saw the pain in his eyes. "Your arm... Let's get you back to your cave."

Her chilled hand touched his face lightly, making sure this moment was real. That he truly did want her.

Lirain watched the good-natured Healer with a curious expression, eyes focusing on the girl?s face as though she would be able to draw some sort of valuable conclusion from the way her lips moved to so eloquently form the gentle words that slipped from between them. Despite her magical capabilities and uncanny perception, the redheaded Nymph could gather no more than the fact that Elba was a soothing presence amongst the mismatched army and a valuable tool of war. She did not want to make enemies with her; it was the Prince she had an issue with. And so she did not sigh impatiently as the girl interrupted.

Instead she waited until they had both said their piece before stepping in with her own interjection. ?My name is Lirain your highness, although I suspect you will find no use for it unless it is spoken with disapproval.? At this she grinned in obvious amusement, fingering a piece of hair idly as she watched Caspian closely. ?Do not waste your time trying to defend yourself against me, Prince. I am a stubborn creature by nature, so you will find you will prove your worth to me in time when you least expect it. I suppose you could say I?m here to stand as the internal conflict, to make sure you are able to hold your own amongst the people you defend as well as those you seek to conquer.?

She took a step forward, gaze travelling to rest on their captive with a look of disgust before she made to brush a few strands of hair away from her eyes. ?Take into consideration the fact that I only find your mercy towards that man displeasing under specific circumstances. This is not a time for second chances. He is an enemy, and one that would not hesitate to kill any of the people here if they were to overstep the set boundaries.? Lirain lifted her chin, frowning deeply. ?In any case we?ve already been through this. Ultimately you will decide our fate, not I. Can I say I am content with that? No, I cannot.?

Her words were kind and gentle, he didn't want to go back to his cave, he wished something would come up.
Suddenly he overheard voices stretching from another cave not too far away; he was able to decipher the situation roughly as an issue with an enemy. He thought if it was the Telmarine that he had brought to camp as a prisoner. If so, he felt he should check in on the situation.
"Roani, I need to check up on something. You're welcome to follow if you'd like." He smiled and held her hand once more.

Making his way to where the noise came he realized it was between Prince Caspian, Elba the healer who had greatly assisted him, and a magical being who he knew nothing about. It wasn't long until he picked up the strong hint that this was in fact about the Telmarine he had brought to the Prince earlier.

Entering their presence quietly he disturbed them, "Pardon my intrusion." He looked to the Prince and bowed in respect, "I couldn't help but overhear a few things, and I know this may not be any of my business but if it so happens to be about the Prisoner who I had spared and brought to you I'd like to see how things have developed."
A thought ran to his head and knowing he should have dismissed it he blurted it out instead, "If it pleases you Prince and is convenient for you, I'm available to take charge of this prisoner." He knew well he would get a 'no' as an answer but he felt he should make himself look to be useful and considerate.

He turned to face Roani, hoping she had indeed followed.

The wind pressed hard on his left wing sending him twirling through the skies, he was trying to stay airborne and find where the camp of Caspian was. There was no sign of it and with the wind pressing hard it left him tired and uneasy. He loves to fly but with conditions such as these he knew he could be a dead owl any moment.

Looking down for shelter he found nothing of use. There was a Telmarine camp not too far away but he was sure he was not welcome there. He felt a strong urge pull from within him, the storm was much worse than before. Trees were toppling over, winds beating down hard, painful whipping of rain drops and thunder growling through the land. He was tired and had nothing left to go on, the wind itself was quite hectic and trying to land seemed to be harmful if he was not careful. But after much reasoning he decided he had no choice but to take the risk, not too far away he spotted a good deal of refuge. Many trees clustered together and what seemed to be the opening of caves formed under the trees as he changed his angle of view.

Leaning to his left and then his right he battled the winds, he knew he was diving too fast but he could do nothing of it as his momentum carried him downwards.
Just at the last moment he swirled away from the wind's tight grasp and luckily found a branch near one of the caves. He was not fond of caves but seeing a bit of light within them sparked great curiousity. Having landed on the branch he spread his left wing and ruffled it, then he did the same with his right. The wind was still pounding away at the trees and not willing to be a victim of a natural catastrophe he bolted to the cave. His only hope was that there he would find the Old Narnians, or at least information leading to their where abouts.

Roani saw Richard's head move in the direction of where she had last seen Prince Caspian and the others. Small snatches of words drifted down the tunnel to the pair. She strained her ears to hear more. "Roani, I need to check up on something. You're welcome to follow if you'd like." Nodding as the knight spoke, the girl followed closely behind.

As they arrived to find the group, Roani heard Cross offer his services as Guard of the Prisoner, to watch him and make sure nothing bad happened. "I'll help too." she said quietly. When the man turned to look at her, the huntress smiled. She stepped up beside of him and looked at the small group.

Caspian wished that the conflict within the camp would cease ? though he knew this to be quite the impossibility. Everyone was rather annoyed with their present circumstances and this was being taken out on one another. Though, he knew that Lirain?s issues with him had nothing to do with the weather, he worried about them about as much as he did the other squabbles breaking out among the camp. While her first, very public, criticism of him had been a rather stinging sort of thing, he had quickly gotten past it to find amusement in the situation.

She told him, rather plainly, that she was there as the conflict, to make sure that he was able to hold his own. He was quite certain that he was capable of this, as he rose an eyebrow in silent examination of her. Why should that be her job anyway? Why should she care? Was he not here defending her people? Was he not trying to rid them all of the cruel reign of his own uncle? Why then did she need to cause conflict, frustration, and doubt? How would bringing the camp to a point of doubting him help their cause? It really wouldn?t, and he was intrigued. What was it about himself that annoyed her so?

And then, before he really had a chance to say much of anything, Sir Cross, the man who had brought Adimon to him what seemed like an eternity ago approached. Caspian had heard that he had been hurt, and was pleased to see that he was healing well. Sir Cross said then that he was available to take care of the prisoner. A young woman approached ? Caspian recognized her from a rather interesting encounter in the woods, not too long before the storm had started ? and offered her assistance also.

?You see,? he said to Lirain, ?not all think that killing him is the best idea ? but I?ll not gloat.? Turning to acknowledge Sir Cross and Roani properly, he gave them both a bow. ?How good to see you doing better, Sir Cross. And Roani, you are looking as wonderful as ever.? He smiled, figuring that by the way they didn?t seem to want to leave one another?s sight, there certainly must be something going on between them. He didn?t mind ? so long as romance didn?t keep anyone from the task at hand. Beating Miraz.

?Sir Cross, I think I just might take you up on your offer. I cannot devote the proper attention to monitoring Adimon ? the prisoner ? and I need someone to make sure that he doesn?t escape. And to let me know the moment he begins to regain his memories. That is crucial.? Taking a closer look at Richard, he paused for a moment. ?Not only that, but I think you could use a little more time to heal. The lovely Roani can keep you company.?

Turning his attention back to Lirain, he shrugged. ?It?s no secret you don?t much like me. And I?m alright with that ? though questioning me in front of the army is perhaps not the best way to go about it. Things could go badly for both of us if you do.?

Lirain simply shrugged, watching the others with a serious expression. Perhaps it was her own personal experiences with the Humans that had her opinions differentiating so severely with theirs. Her resentment should have been obvious from the beginning. In any case, she cared very little about what they thought in regards to her attitude; all she was concerned about was the effect their mercy would have on the result of the war and their future ? if there was even one to speak of.

Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, the young woman lifted her chin and smiled sardonically. ?You already have your highness.? Waiting for him to address the man and woman whom had approached, she flicked a piece of hair out of her eyes and turned again to examine the prisoner. He did appear fatigued and confused, but that did not mean he deserved their kindness. It bewildered her to no end the human Prince?s compassion for him in light of the current events and his conflict with the Tlemarine. The most sympathy she would have showed him would have been to toss him back out to fend for himself in the storm. Perhaps then he would think twice about being foolish enough to find himself caught on enemy territory.

Returning her attention on Caspian, Lirain waved a hand airily and stepped towards the opening of the cave so that her back faced him, only glancing back over her shoulder to speak.

?I have said all I needed to say Prince, you may discard my words if you wish. Although I feel I must make one last confession. You are still a child. I may dislike you now, but that does not mean I wish to see you fail. I do appreciate your efforts, but attempts are not enough. These people need a solid victory. I?m just ensuring you realize that failure is not an option now; we can?t afford to make mistakes.?Feeling suffocated by the small gathering of people, the tall woman grinned cheekily at him before moving out further so that the wind whipped at her long hair and the rumbling thunder increased in volume.

If he wished to speak with her further, he was free to follow.
Shepherding them all into the cave wasn?t exactly the best way to keep their arguments private after all.

Her words bothered him immensely, though he stood there silently as she said her piece. He would not deny her that right, though he felt as though he really needed to speak up in defence of himself. Yes, he was young ? he knew that. He knew it would only be that much more difficult because he was so young but he also knew that no one else had stepped up, no one else had led this army to fight the Telmarines. Now here he was and he was going to do the best that he could with it.

Watching her walk away from him was infuriating; the little royal within him rearing it?s head as he battled with himself between demanding she return ? their conversation was hardly over ? or following after her. His common sense won over in the end and he hurried to catch up with her. He didn?t wish to cause a scene; her opinion of him was hardly that important. Still, he wished to set the records straight.

?I may be young,? he said slowly, coolly, ?but I must beg to differ, I am not a child. A child cannot lead an army, a child could not do the things that I have already accomplished here and will continue to accomplish. You may not like the way I do things, you may not like that I let the prisoner live instead of killing him. But I sincerely hope that is something that will not change no matter how I age.?

Moving easily in front of her, he shook his head. ?I don?t know why you think it is your job to be the one who causes trouble within the camp. The last thing we need is squabbling and foolish arguments. We hardly need the doubts, the frustrations that you?re bringing here. What good is it? I suppose then, when the Telmarines are defeated and cast out and I take the throne, you?ll cause a fuss still? Will the tables be so radically turned in ten, perhaps twenty years when you yourself have risen up a little resistance army against me?? He couldn?t help but smirk as he observed her.

?It?s a rather futile thing, I should say. Give up this foolishness. Think what you wish in your mind but stop causing trouble. It isn?t fair to anyone here.?

They had made it.  Alive.  That was what mattered.  Even if she was rather wet now, at least there was no chance of them getting wounded or dying and Roxanne was grateful for the shelter.  But she was also rather unsure as to where they were.  It simply seemed like a bunch of caves to her and she knew not the significance of the place.  Nor did she ask.  Perhaps she had heard an awe-filled remark or two, but she didn't take them to heart.  She figured that it was just some random tunnel of caves that they had fortunately found.

Roxanne sat down on a small stool-like rock and used her hands to wipe her face of the dirt and rain.  Her skirt wouldn't have been much help...it was pretty much in the same condition.  But it didn't bother her.  This was the kind of "freedom" she would never get with her father.  No, this would hardly be acceptable in his eyes.  But that's not to say that she didn't wish she had dry clothes, just that at the moment she was trying to appreciate it all.

She noticed some people talking to - what she could only assume to be - their friends.  At the moment, Roxanne wasn't interested in making any friends and decided observing would be fine instead of striking up a conversation.  Though she had to admit that the Prince and the woman he was talking to didn't seem like friends.  He looked pretty fired up about something...Roxanne looked away.  None of her business.  She was sure tempers were going to flare after all that chaos.

She didn't expect people to be happy right now.  At least, that wouldn't be their first emotion.

It seemed as though the storm were weakening as Choni rode through the forest. The trees surrounding her offered some shelter, but both she and her horse were soaked. And she was hungry.

"You're the lucky one," she had remarked to him the previous day. "Your food grows everywhere."

Her food had finally run out two days before. Hungry, she had pulled out her bow to shoot at a rabbit, half hoping to miss. Choni had never had to hunt for herself before, but that was another life, when she was Lady Arina, even if that other life only ended a week ago.

After realizing that she had no idea how to start a fire, Choni dug a shallow grave at the base of a tree with her hands and burried the poor creature.

When the storm had begun, she was lucky enough to be near the forest, which lessened the effect, but hardly the rain. She now rode, soaked, shivering, and hungry, towards a large clearing ahead, centered around a hill. She noticed a cave burrowing into the hill.

We can stay in there until the rest of this wretched thing passes, she thought to herself.

Trotting out into the open, Tyber neighed and turned right back into the forest and Choni didn't blame him. The trees seemed to protect them from the elements more than she had thought. Turning him around, she looked back out through the rain. The cave wasn't more than a few meters from the edge of the wood.

"We can make it that far, boy, don't you think? We're already wet, what's a little more rain and some wind if we can get to better shelter?" she coaxed him. Neither Tyber nor Choni had ever had to deal with such unpleasant weather conditions. Choni almost convinced herself that the elements were conspiring against her, but now she had a refuge. "Ready?

Whether or not he was ready, Choni gave her horse a swift kick in the hind quarters with her heel and he took off at a full gallop towards the cave. Squinting through the near horizontal rain, Choni steered him straight into the cave before pulling on his reins to slow him.

"Good boy," she said as she dismounted and led him further in. "As soon as I find a place to purchase carrots, you're getting a whole bucket full.

The last thing Choni expected when riding into her sanctuary was other people.

Nirvelli sat in the corner of the cave as the loud storms raged unmercifully outside. The water had pooled upon various spots on the ground where the rock had been eroded and the cracks slowly seeped out. The young princess, soon to be queen of the seas, sat with the sick trying to help as much as she could. How this had affected the people on land more. She had ordered her own cities within the oceans and seas to be evacuated. Most were within the oceans caverns already, and just sealed off all entrance to the inner cities. She had been protecting her own people as long as she could, and now that they were safe, she knew her duty was to her land. Her species were a part of human, and the mermaid almost felt ill of her home being near rain. She let her heart slightly sink a bit, but let it soar at the thought of one day restoring the two worlds she loved ever so dearly. She had a small shell with a whole at the top. It was an item from her father of everlasting water within it. A magical item that had become very useful since she had came here. She poured within small cups some water for the humans and other creatures within the caves.

She had assisted all that had needed it, and finally was done with the entire running around. It had been a long day helping all she could, and now she was simply bushed with all the work. She sighed, sitting down near an opening at a wall looking out, able to see the ocean. She bit her lip. It was a faint image, but she absolutely wished she could be closer than she was. She ran her fingers along the walls edge where the rain dripped. She stared at the water, and then sighed. It was just?so selfish of her. Or at least that was how she felt. She was feeling homesick, and not trying to make these people feel any better. It was her job at home, and she felt she could help some of them as well. She heard a faint sound of a flute. She looked over at a small group a young elf and her mother, and two fauns playing instruments. One played his flute while the other played an instrument the looked like a small circular guitar. The sweet melodies made her smile, and she approached the group that gave a small bow of there heads, and she returned the gesture. The fire had images within it of all kinds of creatures dancing and having merriment of fun. ?Narnian lullabies.? She said softly. ?Play a song of freedom.? She said to the fauns, and they nodded with smiles. She swayed to the music humming in her sweet angelic voice. None could sing in comparance to the mermaids, whose voices guided the ships with their voices. It was a natural talent.

?Sing with me a song of the victory.
Sing with me a song of the wonder of glory
And the right of us all we earn our freedoms.
Sing for our dawns and our days and our stars
To be beautiful shining and joyful
Sing with me the lullabies oh Narnia.?

Her beautiful voice rang like a silver bell; the child listened in wonderment at the fire dancing wildly and beautifully with the song. The song repeated and the small child sang along with her as the mother hummed gently along. She loved music so much. It could bring hope through a beautiful art of enchanted sounds. Her heart always melted when she heard beautiful music. It made her so much happier now that she had home off of her mind. She needed just the right medicine to help her feel joyful, and music was it. She smiled as a few joined in singing. This would hopefully bring hope to the few around the princess. The young princess was a great leader. Not a child, but a young woman. A differance that was obvious to see.

Some noise and disturbance.  Roxanne looked around to see two strange sights all at once.  The stranger of the two, a mermaid had come up into on of the pools of water with - what seemed to Roxanne - a sudden splash and flurry of water.  Roxanne had no idea that the pools in this cave led out to the ocean...unless this was some reject mermaid that had been locked up here.  But by the way the mermaid acted - as she went along caring for wounds and singing a lullaby - Roxanne thought her hardly a reject.  She acted more like a princess.

The second of the strange two acts was a girl on a horse who came prancing into the caverns like she owned the place.  Perhaps this wasn't as strange as Roxanne thought it was but it seemed all odd because the girl herself seemed very confused.  Like she expected the place to be all empty and stuff.  Roxanne just hoped she wasn't a spy...for the Prince's sake, of course.  But Roxanne thought this a good opportunity to get up, stretch her legs, talk to the stranger and make sure she wasn't...dangerous.

So she did just that.  She stood up and tried to dust off her skirt from the newly collected dirt (which was quite an ordeal because her skirt was already dirty and wet) without any success.  Then Roxanne just gave up and walked over to the girl on her high horse (for she had been on a horse, as mentioned).  Appearance wasn't everything after all.  At least that's what people kept saying.  When she was close enough to the girl without being too close, she began a conversation.

"So, getting here a little late aren't you?  Get lost in that storm?" Roxanne said.  Best to try and make it look like she wasn't actually interrogating the poor girl...though Roxanne wasn't sure of the girls financial status she look poor as in poor in spirit.  Down on her luck.  That was just Roxanne's impression.  But she figured if she made it out like the girl was one of them - Old Narnians and the like - it would be better than just straight out saying "so are you with us or what?".

Choni glanced around at the many people who seemed to be in the cave, which was actually a tunnel. Someone's beautiful voice reverberated off the walls as their song ended. My plan wasn't so original, she thought, sighing inwardly. She wondered what so many people were doing out here rather than in the villages she would have thought they lived in.

So, getting here a little late, aren't you? Get lost in that storm?

She stared at the young woman who had approached her. She narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth to reprimand her for speaking to her in such a tone, but then bit it back. She was supposed to be in hiding. This was going to be difficult. Choni had never had to hold back anything before. She stood nearer to Tyber, as if he were some sort of safety blanket. It comforted her that he was with her and she entwined her fingers in his mane.

"I was riding through the forest for shelter when the storm began," she said as humbly as she could manage, but unable to completely quell the snobbish tone she'd aquired when she was five. "I saw a cave as I came to the edge of a clearing and decided that it would be better shelter for my horse and I."

She looked past the woman. Some of the inhabitants of the cave didn't seem quite... human. And she could have swore she saw one girl with scales. "Who are all these people?" she wondered allowed as if expecting an answer from her horse rather than whoever stood before her.

The woman seemed uncomfortable and almost uncertain as to how to reply.  More than that, she seemed like she was lying.  But Roxanne couldn't help but excuse that.  Now that she was closer, the woman seemed almost familiar.  Her face...especially her eyes.  Had Roxy seen them some where?  But where?  Then she spoke.

"I was riding through the forest for shelter when the storm began."  I saw a cave as I came to the edge of a clearing and decided that it would be better shelter for my horse and I."  So she wasn't with them.  Her excuse almost seemed plausible but...her voice was recognizable too.  Where?  Roxanne wasn't used to seeing people she knew from her past and now she was and she didn't know who it was or why.  Or if she was just going crazy.

"Who are all these people?"

"I guess you're not with us then...'us' being the Old Narnians loyal to Prince Caspian," Roxanne replied.  Perhaps she should get someone in authority.  She didn't feel adequate anymore to interrogate strangers.  At least, not this one.  She looked around but saw no one in sight...except for Caspian but it seemed his hands were full at the moment.  "But whether you are loyal or not to the True King, I guess you'll have to stay now.  Couldn't have you going off and telling Miraz where we are, right?" Roxanne said, her confidence returning as she tried to shake this strange feeling.

I guess you're not with us, then... 'Us' being the Old Narnians loyal to Prince Caspian.

"The Prince is here?" she hissed, cursing her rotten luck. She had visited the castle regularly growing up. The last thing she needed was for the Prince to recognize her and send her home. Then she stopped for a moment. What had the girl said? "Old... Narnians?" Choni couldn't quite decide if the girl was talking about the legends or a band of old men.

Pushing her dripping hair from her face, she glanced to get a better look at the young woman. Choni decided that she had seen her before, but she couldn't place her. Normally, she remembered most people that she associated with, so this one must have been merely a passing aquaintence, someone who didn't get out much. She frowned, trying to think.

But whether you are loyal or not to the True King, I guess you'll have to stay now. Couldn't have you going off and telling Miraz where we are, right?

Choni was outraged. "First off, I'm not going anywhere near King Miraz! Do you think I want to destroy my own life? Secondly, I am only staying in this pit until the storm passes! You have no right and no authority to hold me here like some captive! Who do you think you are!" Actually, that's what Choni was trying to figure out.

Trying to think back, she remembered the last bit of new she had recieved from her servant before she had begun to make plans to run away. King Miraz's wife, Queen Prunaprismia, had given birth to a son. That very same night, during celebrations, their nephew, Prince Caspian and heir to the throne, disappeared. The servant had heard many rumors. One was that Caspian ran away to form an army and over throw his uncle. Another was that King Miraz murdered the boy in his sleep so that his newborn son would one day take over as King. Considering that the childish Prince was safe and well here in this tunnel proved that the former was more or less the correct story.

Yup.  That's who it was.  That girl that Roxanne had seen during her visits to Anvard when she was younger.  Apparently she was unfortunate enough to become betrothed against her will.  That was possibly the only time Roxanne had ever been overly grateful that her father wouldn't let her out of his sight.  That way she at least wouldn't be married off to a completely jerk-of-a-stranger like this girl.  Or like she was suppose to be.

But what was her name again?  Something...it had an 'A' in it to be sure.  There was no doubt about that.  The girl's voice pulled her from her thoughts.

"First off, I'm not going anywhere near King Miraz! Do you think I want to destroy my own life? Secondly, I am only staying in this pit until the storm passes! You have no right and no authority to hold me here like some captive! Who do you think you are!"

Roxanne was a bit drawn back.  The emotion portrayed on her face was 'oh, that was mature'...in a completely sarcastic way of course.  But she did have the perfect response...thankfully.  "I don't think it really matters who I am right now.  But I think it matters that I know who you are...Arina," Roxanne taunted.  Though confidence was clear in her voice and face, she surely hoped that she had gotten the name right.  She could have sworn it was 'Arila' but that's obviously not what came out.

"Now," she said with a calm, cool, collected and mostly mature voice.  "Since you are obviously quite ignorant of what is happening in the world.  Let me enlighten you that the Old Narnians are all the talking animals you happen to see all around us.  And - oh yeah - I might not be able to keep you here, but I'm just gonna guess that if you don't swear allegiance to the true king that you might as well go out in that storm now.  You'll be safer there than in here."

I don't think it really matters who I am right now. But I think it matters that I know who you are... Arina.

Choni gasped and drew back. "You wretch! Keep your voice down! My name is Choni! Choni, Choni, Choni, and don't you forget it!" She pursed her lips together and glared. Who was this woman? She would have to be from Archenland. If the Prince truly was gathering an army, then any other person in Narnia would be on the King's side. She leaned towards her. "I know you, who are you..."

Now, since you are obviously quite ignorant of what is happening in the world, let me enlighten you that the Old Narnians are all the talking animals you happen to see all around us.  And - oh yeah - I might not be able to keep you here, but I'm just gonna guess that if you don't swear allegiance to the true king that you might as well go out in that storm now.  You'll be safer there than in here.

Choni's eyes widened and she smiled. "Truly? The Old Narnians, just like in the legends! This is absolutely amazing!" Again, she looked right passed the woman in front of her. No wonder the inhabitants didn't look human, they were Talking Animals and Sprites and Nymphs and... everything! And that really was a mermaid she had seen. She didn't pay any mind to what the woman said about swearing allegiances and such nonsense. This is what she had been dreaming about her entire life!

"I never thought I'd ever see them," she whispered to her horse. "Oh, Tyber, look at them!" She giggled and clapped her hands together as if she had just received a brilliant present.

In the shadows, a young woman watched as two others conversed, even argued alittle. Her gray eyes dark with indecision on what to do, the girl stepped alittle closer to hear the ladies' words. They seemed to be talking about names and knowing each other, but the one with the horse switched to a different subject.

"Truly? The Old Narnians, just like in the legends! This is absolutely amazing!"

Those words brought a smile to Roani's lips. She had choosen this time to emerge from the clinging darkness and address the strangers. The young woman padded forward and came to a halt in front of the other women. "Yes, the Old Narnians are real. Very real. But who are you? And you?" As she turned to the one with the horse, her name seemed to be Choni or atleast she said it was. Roani would question and inquire to the names and allegiances of these strangers till she was sure they could be trusted.

She had gotten sleep. The first real sleep she'd had in awhile. No dreams, no nightmares just peaceful undisturbed sleep. Her whole body was wrapped under a small blanket on the cave floor as she slept, her shivers growing more and more frequent. When she woke she would have a fever, but she wouldn't tell anyone, and wouldn't have another chance at sleep for days. So it wasn't surprising that her irritation rose when the voices began invading her sleep.

"But whether you are loyal or not to the True King, I guess you'll have to stay now.  Couldn't have you going off and telling Miraz where we are, right?"

She didn't recognize the voice and stirred a bit in her slumber.

"First off, I'm not going anywhere near King Miraz! Do you think I want to destroy my own life? Secondly, I am only staying in this pit until the storm passes! You have no right and no authority to hold me here like some captive! Who do you think you are!"

Elba felt her head pounding. She opened her eyes, rising from the stone floor like an old crone. It was rare that Elba's temper ever got the best of her, but she felt it rising now, like a hot tide. This was ridiculous, didn't they have enough troubles.

"You wretch! Keep your voice down! My name is Choni! Choni, Choni, Choni, and don't you forget it!"

Finally she stood, throwing the blanket down and standing up, her limbs aching. She moved to the edge of the wall where she could get a view of just what was going on. Many new people had joined in the little cave and a few of them seemed to main contributors of the noise levels. She stood, eyebrow arched and a hand on her hip. Near her Roani stood and Elba neared her, looking at the brave Huntress with anger obvious on her tired face. She felt heat flushing her face and shivered with cold. In a few minutes she'd have to go and make a few rounds, checking on the sick and the lame.

"Yes, the Old Narnians are real. Very real. But who are you? And you?"

Roani seemed to have it under control.

"I personally don't care who they are." she said facing the newcomers "There are sick here and this is not helping them at all. If you insist on making a mockery of them do it outside or in Miraz's camp."

She brushed her hair from her face and turned to a small Fox who was coughing violently. She tended to him, her anger slowly subsiding. She had too much to do to hold grudges.

((uh...just fyi but Roxy isn't a newcomer Wink))

Ug.  Sometimes women were just so pushy.  Wanting to get in every one's business.  Just when the conversation was getting nice and loverly, talking about pleasant things like unicorns and mermaids.  And then some stupid girl who didn't recognize her had to walk up, followed by her prodigy no doubt.  But they obviously were not that perceptive if they couldn't even recognize her as one of Prince Caspian's followers.

Roxanne just rolled her eyes as if to say 'Oh my gosh, you are so immature and rude'...but of course she didn't actually say those words.  She didn't have to say it.  After all, that would be rude and immature of her to say such things.  And she was above all that.  Profits of being raised to be a lady in the court of Archenland by an over-protective father and solemn mother.  At least something good had come of it all.

"Have fun here.  I'm gonna go some where else now," she said...perhaps her tone was a bit mocking, but she was quite annoyed with the whole situation.  Women.  She understood why men didn't understand them.  Roxanne had a hard enough time understanding other females herself!  She gave Choni a bit of a smile as if to say 'don't worry, I'll be talking to you soon' and crossed her arms.  She turned and looked around, sighing.

Perhaps that was some way she could help.  She wasn't sure, Roxanne wasn't much of a healer.  But something.  Something.  She walked over to the mermaid sitting by the pool of water.  The princess-y girl.  "Hey, you seem to know what's going on.  I'm kinda at a loss of how to help here so...I thought I would offer my services to you," she said with a smile and a friendly sort of curtsy.

A woman walked up to them. Choni didn't know why this was any of anyone else's business. She was keeping her voice down. At least she sounded kind.

Yes, the Old Narnians are real. Very real. But who are you? And you?

"I'm Choni. I seem to have stumbled across your camp by mistake, but I'll help in any way I can." Choni just wished she knew what exactly was going on. She wished she had thought to bring the boy who fetched her news for her.

Some other woman stood and walked over to snap at her.

I personally don't care who they are. There are sick here and this is not helping them at all. If you insist on making a mockery of them do it outside or in Miraz's camp.

"I am not trying to make a mockery of anyone!" Choni said. defending herself. Her eyes widened when she got a good look at the woman. "Lady Elba?"

Even if she didn't know her, Choni knew Elba Oimms. The only Noble woman in the whole of the Archenland army! Her decision to join the army had caused much commotion and talk for years. But what was Elba doing here? It was also a well known fact that both of her brothers were in the Telmarine army under King Miraz.

Her speech faltered as she looked at the Fox Elba was tending to. She glanced around the tunnel and realized that most here were sick. Even the woman who had confronted her when she entered had left to help tend the sick.

"I... I brought medicine with me, if it will help. I wrapped it in a leather hide to keep it safe. It should be dry." She turned and began untying her pack from Tyber's back. She set it on the ground and rifled through it until she found the makeshift package she had stored the medicine in. Even Choni knew she could be selfish sometimes, but she also knew when others needed something more than she did. She stood and took the hide to Lady Elba.

Richard awoke from his sleep; he was half asleep and rather drowsy. He was quick to panic as he didn't recall where he was, or why he was there. It took some time for him to recount his memories but once he did, everything came back into view.

The cave was rather dark and Roani was no longer present, getting up he decided to look around and see the current state of things.
There were a couple of times he stumbled here and there but he was regaining his balance, his arm still ached from before but he paid it no attention.

Coming to another cave he found a crowd gathered, some people he did not recognize but one of them was in fact a Telmarine that he had heard about. Not knowing whether she was friend or foe he rushed back to another opening of the cave to collect his sword and shield. His shield was heavy for his left; he still had to fully recover his arm before he could use it effectively. Acknowledging the fact, he latched it to his back as he occasionally would do when he went for a light jog. His sword was held firmly in hand and with that he returned back to the crowd of people, he was relieved to find Roani amongst them but something deep within warned him.

He felt threatened and being in such a position he stepped forward, "Anyone care to explain what the matter is at hand?"
In asking his question he gripped the sword's handle, prepared to make any action found reasonable to him to use.

Gray eyes narrowing as both women walked away, Roani chose not to say anything or any rude comment she had thought up. It wouldn't do good to start fights with people she didn't know, although it was fun at times. The women went off to talk to other people, one to the mermaid Roani had yet to meet, and the other to help Elba.

With a sigh, the girl stalked over to where her horse, Dar, was standing. Some Narnian had left him untied, knowing well that he wouldn't stray. His warm, hay-smelling breath was snorted into her palm as way of greeting. Her hand slid up and scratched the gelding's ear in just the right spot. Roani was so absorbed in her horse that she never heard the footsteps.

"Anyone care to explain what the matter is at hand?" As those words creeped their way into her head the girl realized who had spoken. Turning with a smile on her face, Roani looked at the man. "Richard! You slept well? Feeling okay?" Giving Dar a last scratch, she crossed the cave and stopped in front of the knight.

Her eyes searched his face, taking in the slight paleness and hint of pain. "I came up here and saw two new arrivals to the camp. They were talking about the camp, so I walked up to them. Asked them who they were. The one beside the mermaid rolled her eyes and walked off. The other went over to Elba. So I'm at a loss." The girl stood there, with an annoyed look on her face.

"Oh so that's the situation..."
He smiled and gave her a quick hug, "The Prince should not be disturbed at this moment, he needs to rest. And of course with new arrivals, I will need to look into this further, we don't know where they're from or why they're here."

Scratching his head in provokative thought he thought to himself of what he ought to do.
"I guess I'll take the responsibility, just take my back in case things get nasty. I mean, I can understand those needing refuge, but we can't risk giving any enemies the safe refuge. We've already got one prisoner, I don't want to bother the Prince with another."

In a swift movement he withdrew his sword from his sheath and walked towards the new arrivals.
He had never seen a mermaid before and the sight of her really did hit him with a vibe of beauty he had not seen before. Aware that Roani was there he wished not to give the wrong impression, hinting there may be a sign of jealousy if he doesn't choose his actions right.

"I do not mean to be much of a disturbance, but I require information on who you girls are and where you're from." With a quick smile he greeted the mermaid and Elba, "I wish not to disturb the Prince but if you're not here to join and help the Old Narnians, I will have to ask you to leave. If you refuse, I'll do so by force and with the help of my fellow friends in the cave it should be quite an easy task."

When Adimon first awoke from his unconscious state, his head still pounded and he hurt badly. Someone -- he hardly saw who -- gave him something to drink, and soon afterwards he fell into a more natural sleep.  Adimon drifted in and out of sleep for some time, though no one seemed to pay him any mind.

Finally, he awoke completely.  He felt much better now; his headache had faded to a negligible ache and he could move his head with little trouble.  Satisfied with his improvement, Adimon took notice of his surroundings for the first time.  He was lying on the ground, with his head on a wadded up bit of cloth...probably a coat or other piece of spare clothing.  His arms were tied in front of him, and his legs were bound around the ankles.  Despite his weakened condition and lost memory, they weren't taking any chances, that was for sure.  He was just grateful they had still tried to make him somewhat comfortable.

Looking around, he saw that he was in a small side cave, looking into one of the main caverns where many people had gathered.  At the entrance of the cave was a minotaur, who appeared to be standing guard over him.  Adimon grimaced and quickly looked beyond the creature.  There was the leader and the girl who had wanted to kill him, still arguing. She stalked away, and the man actually tried to catch up with her. Adimon wondered how the man hoped to win any type of war when he seemingly couldn't even control his own people.

What type of war was the man fighting, anyway? Adimon hated not knowing what in the world was going on.  Apparently, he was mistaken in his earlier thoughts that he was not an important player in this conflict. He had thought that if he were anyone of significance they would have killed him right at the beginning. Now, it seemed, they planned to use him as a bargaining piece. Or as a source of information... though whether they believed his claim to amnesia or not, they'd soon find out that he wouldn't be of much use to them there. Still, he couldn't be glad he had lost his memory.  He'd be of less use to them now, which would give them less of an incentive for keeping him alive.  It appeared the leader wanted to be merciful -- though he himself would have agreed with the argumentative girl had his position been switched -- but he didn't quite trust that this would last.  Plus, once he completely recovered, if he managed to escape, he'd have no clue about where to go.  He only hoped he'd have his memory back by then.

So, given his position, what was his plan to be now? First, he needed information...and something to drink.  Trying to seem friendly, he sat up and called out to the minotaur, "Excuse me, sir. Might I have something to drink, please? And if someone could tell me what's going on, I'd be much obliged."

The minotaur turned and glared, and despite himself, Adimon's heart beat a little quicker.  He hid his fear behind a smile, however, and before he could say anything further, the minotaur turned away and passed along the request to a nearby faun. So apparently he was to be treated with at least some respect, which was a relief.  His message sent, he turned his mind to coming up with more plans as he waited for a response.

I do not mean to be much of a disturbance, but I require information on who you girls are and where you're from. I wish not to disturb the Prince but if you're not here to join and help the Old Narnians, I will have to ask you to leave. If you refuse, I'll do so by force and with the help of my fellow friends in the cave it should be quite an easy task.

Choni sighed and stood up to face the knight, her face pinched and her hands on her hips. She bid his sword no mind and stared up at him defiantly, wishing she were taller.

"My name is Choni, which I had already told the woman I just saw you speaking with, and I came in here to get out of the storm my horse and I had been riding in all day. Stumbling across your little camp was accidental, which I also mentioned." Her gaze slid to the woman who had confronted her when she first came in, who somehow knew who she really was. She hoped she wouldn't open her mouth and give her away.

She looked back to the knight. "Where I come from is of no consequence to you. All you need know is that I am not in league with King Miraz and since I'm here anyway, I might as well help."

She gave him a pointed stare, as if challenging him to say something else to her. She had very little patience for men she held no interest in, especially men who gallavanted over with their swords drawn.

"And put that thing away before you hurt yourself! I can see from here that your left arm is lame, straining the other won't do you any good. Besides, we're unarmed women. If you're going to keep your sword out for asking questions, then please, just stand there a moment whilst I retrieve my bow. Then, at least, you'll have some sort of excuse." She stood, continuing to stare at him, giving him a chance to put his weapon away before she really did fetch her bow.

Caspian was tired of the squabbling. Arguing with Lirain would do him no good ? why bother? He knew he needed to pick and choose his battles, especially battles of words, but he was having a difficult time when he was so annoyed. Still, he had to calm himself down and forget about this; it was completely useless.

?Arguing will do us no good,? he murmured with a shake of his head, glancing around the camp. ?I have no desire to continue on this foolishness any longer. Do something useful and tend to the sick, or? or something. The storm is lessening; we can?t be in here much longer.? Sighing as he ran a hand through his hair, he turned away from her and walked off towards a group that had gathered a little ways away.

Sir Cross looked as though he had gotten himself into quite the position with two young women ? his sword was drawn and he was doing his best to look firm with them though one of the women didn?t seem to be taking him too seriously. She told him that they were rather unarmed, though if he wished to talk with weapons drawn she would gladly retrieve her bow.

?I don?t think that?ll be necessary, ladies,? Caspian said good naturedly to the woman who had addressed Cross. ?I don?t believe Sir Cross means you any harm; he?s a valiant man who merely wishes to see no harm come upon our group in so vulnerable a circumstance. There is good reason to be wary of anyone who comes wandering in, especially in this storm, no matter who it is.? He nodded to Cross to re-sheath his sword non-the-less.

?I am Prince Caspian; leader of this army here. I apologize ? no doubt you?ve rehashed your story time and time again ? but I?d like very much to know who you are and why you?re here? It?s uncommon for one to come stumbling in here in the middle of a storm? and as we Narnians are currently at war, one cannot help but be cautious.? He gave a slight bow, hoping to settle the whole thing before anything got out of hand.

The drawing of weapons was not a good idea; hostility was already beginning in the caves because being in such close, damp quarters was rather uncomfortable. And many of his army had fallen ill, or was beginning to do so. So far, nothing serious. He hoped that it stayed that way.

Choni considered the Prince carefully, studying him. He gave no indication that he recognized her. I really must look awful, or perhaps I've been blessed with good fortune, she thought to herself.

"Your welcoming committee could use some work, your Highness. My name, once again, is Choni. I entered the wood across the clearing just as the storm began with my horse and then later saw the cave." As she spoke, though her words reflected her displeasure, her voice was calm and cool as if she were talking about a lovely party she had attended. Her hands were politely folded in front of her and her face held to trace of a glare of ill will.

"I had only entered to be rid of the rain. Had I known that an army resided here and that I would be interrogated with the same questions over and over again and be approached with sharp, pointy objects, I would have taken my chances out in the storm.

"Now that I am here, I am going to offer what medicines I happened to bring with me to Lady Elba and contemplate turning my horse right around and riding down to Calormen after the storm passes. I would much rather be mistaken for a slave than mistake for a spy any day."

She smiled kindly and bowed her head to the Prince. "Did you have any other questions that perhaps aren't so redundant, Prince Caspian?

Annoyance seeped into Roani as she stood and listened to Choni complain about her and Richard's question and his sword being drawn. The last did her in. "Did you have any other questions that perhaps aren't so redundant, Prince Caspian?"

"Excuse me, but Sir Cross and I," ranted the girl. "were just protecting our camp, and the sick people in it. And do excuse us for asking the same questions over and over again. It's hard to reword those, you know." The last sentence held a tint of sarcasm. This woman was getting on Roani's nerves, even if she did have medicine.

After she spoke, the huntress realized that His Highness had approached and had spoken. Quickly she turned and swept a deep bow. "Highness, forgive me. I have spoken out of turn." Towards this Choni, Roani had been hostile and rude; towards the Prince, she was docile and sweet.

Choni angered Cross, he may have been raised to be a gentleman but even the kindest of men had a limit to their patience.
"Watch your tone with me, I'm only doing my job and with you agitating me it doesn't look like our discussion will be much longer. Words can fight a battle, but a battle is not won by words alone." There was a philosophical meaning behind what he said, what he meant was that his words would turn into a form of aggression if things did not lighten up.

Having Roani back him up was a comfort to him, seeing the Prince he quickly bowed and with a swift swipe of his arm he managed to place the sword back into its sheath.
"I wished not to bother you, your Highness, it isn't easy to be calm in our circumstance."

He respected Caspian, served him as the rightful King, but even the slightest sense of rebuke brought to him much irritation.

"I... I brought medicine with me, if it will help. I wrapped it in a leather hide to keep it safe. It should be dry."

Elba looked up, her eyes tired and the woman's words slurring in her mind. She focused, looking at the face with apt attention. It was familiar, she knew that, but she couldn't quite put a finge ron it. But her name, Elba knew no Choni. She leaned forward, looking at the features like a scientist studies his subject. She raised an eyebrow.

"Thank you Choni." she said in a whisper "But that isn't your real name is-"

She was cut of by the arrival of Sir Richard, who came in wanting to know the situation. Elba gave a slight wave to him and turned back to the woman, a confused look on her face. She would save her questions for later, even if that meant endangering herself in the eyes of the people. She'd have to find out some things later, for now she decided the situation at hand, the hostility that seemed to be rising in the cave, wasn't exactly good. She stood up, rubbing her hands on the bodice of her gown and watching as the events played out. Elba listened as the woman threatened to bring out her bow and arrow and was admitedly impressed with her seeming valor. But she said nothing, it could be a front, many people could feign bravery; not everyone was truly so. When Prince Caspian arrived on the scene she watched him, feeling disconnected from her body. She needed rest, and she knew this because as the Prince arrived his face swam in front of her eyes. His speech was slurred. She gripped the wall for support.

She couldn't understand his words. She felt herself stumbling but tried to mask it, and id it well. The last thing they needed was a lazy healer, hiding under a blanket. She could sleep later, when things weren't so hectic. Elba recognized Richard and Roani, telling their side of the story, and knew that they would both only act if they though it was in the best intrest. She turned to Caspian, trying to think and speak at the same time, which seemed harder than usual.

"Tis true yoiur Highness. I was just as suspicious of the newcomers as they were, and for that I apoligize." she then turned in Choni's direction "But this Lady did infact bring me medicine's for the ill. As for the other, I canot vouch for her."

She took a breath to continue but as she began to speak a small male faun approached, tapping the girl's arm slightly. She turned, startled a bit by the new touch. He explained, quite quickly, that the prisoner had woken and was requesting drink and information. She could provide the liquid, but did not know just what message the Prince wanted relayed to the man. She turned to Caspian, once again waiting for guidence. It seemed she was doing that alot lately.

"I will go an tend to him." she said slowly, only wobbleing slightly "Would you have me speak of his position Your Highness?"

Nirvelli continued to try and keep the area calm and tranquil around her. Unfortunately, the aura of peace within was cut through like a knife with the tension of the others surrounding the small gathering of those trying to stay calm. She sighed hearing the arguments. The small elf child looked up at her with her pure blue eyes with bright silver flecks that shimmers in the small light of the flickering fire. She gave a reassuring smile to the small girl,? It?s okay. Just a little misunderstanding I?m sure.? The mother gave her a smile. She had become rather quick thinking about things lately. She wanted to keep the people away from worry, or harm, but she would also like them informed. There was always the pros and cons of wars? And being in leadership.

The young girl smiled as she looked back to the dancing fire, singing the lullaby she learned from the words of the mermaid. Nirvelli, like a few others of her kind, could walk on land. She had it return every time she returned to the water, but looked mostly human when she lost the fins and scales. She was a very beautiful human, but she never let vanity over throw her glowing kindness. She was a pure person, but with every light came the darkness. She would admit the revenge she wanted on Miraz would be ever so sweet when she got back at him for the attacks on her kind. It was this mission on land to help the creatures of the land that could possibly help with the freedom of her own kind.  She kept an eye out for these people as she did her own.

She heard the quarrel from the woman cease, and let out a sigh of relief. Thank the heavens? She couldn?t stand the arguing. All it did was cause disturbances. She looked to one of the woman that walked over to her, giving her a kind, warm smile. She wasn?t going to hold the fight against them. She gave a small chuckle,? Keeping sane at the moment, and helping out the sickly. I need to do some rounds to check on those who need help. I would truly appreciate the extra hand.? She said with a warm smile, as she stood up. ?By the way, I?m Princess Nirvelli. What would your name be?? She asked as she picked up a sash filled with materials for the injured and sick.

She began to walk to the sick as she noticed the Minotaur denying Adimon with a turn of his back. Nirvelli sighed, walking over and retrieving the water for the gnome. She handed over a small cup to the man,? here you are.? She said in her soft voice. She as well handed a cup to three other creatures that thanked her, before downing the cool water. She noticed his ties, knowing him to be a prisoner. She gave him a glance of caution, but wasn?t one to judge someone unless to be proven guilty?. although it was clear that he was not proven innocent either.

She looked over to see the prince at work himself. She sighed feeling the tension building up with the cramped courtiers. She hoped that his authority would help a bit, and his intelligence could lead him to a way of calming down this chaos. She began to bandage up a centaur sitting near the small fire. She looked to Roxanne. ?Could you please hand me the blue bottle from my sash as she poured some water on the soldier wound to clean off some of the dirt. He winced a bit as she dabbed off some of the dirt. She gave a sympathetic smile,? This may sting a bit.? She said as comfortingly as she could, and he just nodded.

He perked his ears up attentively, shifting his head to the right and then to the left. The storm was not as intense as it was before but it was subsiding, slowly.

While stretching his wings he looked onwards towards the many trees outside. The storm was indeed pressing hard on them but he also realized an aggression shown by the trees, a hatred that sprung from deep within. He remembered the days of his youth and how his father and mother often told him that the trees used to dance; now they all seemed like brutes.

He decided he should go farther into the cave; discover the truth of who really took refuge within. Without making much sound he quickly launched from his standing point and flapped his wings, darting right into the cave.
He could see everything; every dark corner was lit up, every detail made known to him. He was a nocturnal creature of course, night is as day for him and so maneuvering in the cave is no hard task for him.

He slowed down his pace when he realized a large group was assembled together; it seemed there was some sort of confrontation as tension lit up the atmosphere. Not wishing to be known he kept low and made no sound after landing abruptly near to them. If they were to ask him a question, he would not answer, for he knew some looked like Telmarines and for his own safety he must not say a world lest they be of Miraz' forces. But the thought did seem unlikely having spotted a few Minotaurs, a centaur, and a small group of fauns.
He kept his eyes focused, not making any sudden moves.

This girl, this Choni, irritated him, grated on his nerves. Was she so very ignorant that she could not understand the position they all were in? He was tempted to turn her out into to the storm ? but couldn?t very well do that after having demanded they save the life of the Telmarine, if only for a little while. Choni posed no harm, save annoyance, and had brought along medicine which she had contributed to the rapidly falling ill army. He could do nothing but tolerate her. Still, she would learn a little respect ? he had had enough of dissatisfied, quarrelsome women for the time being.

She said she would gladly give of her medicines and then leave the moment that the storm had passed, to travel down to Calormene. ?You couldn?t handle the life of a slave,? he said coldly, leaning forward as he glared down at her. ?You and I know nothing of such a terrible thing. Don?t think I don?t realize that you?re nobility ? one of Miraz?s, no doubt. And I can tell I?m not the only one who finds you oddly familiar.?

Turning away, he gave Roani a quick nod. ?You have no spoken out of turn, Roani, worry not. Speak what you?d like, I have no desire to be that sort of king.  And Cross, good Cross, you have not bothered me at all. Thank you for your valiant service ? keep it up, as I know that you will, and you will be greatly honoured when victory is ours.?

It seemed as though everyone had gathered now, just as they had when the girl, Lirain, had so openly spoken out against him. He sighed; feeling rather caged in and constantly watched. The Lady Elba spoke, saying that she would tend to the prisoner and asked if he would like her to tell him of the man?s condition. Caspian hesitated, then nodded, noting just how weak and tired the poor woman looked.

?This conversation is done,? Caspian said to Choni then, looking out towards the cave entrance. ?I apologize for our horrible hospitality,? he commented then, his voice tinged with sarcasm, ?but as you may not have noticed, we?re in the middle of a war.? Shaking his head in disgust, he wrapped a careful arm around Elba?s waist.

?I?ll help you,? he said carefully to her, ?You look worn, and it?ll never do for you to fall ill too. What will we do then? Perhaps? perhaps you can tell me what to do, and I can assist in caring for the sick??

?You have no spoken out of turn, Roani, worry not. Speak what you?d like, I have no desire to be that sort of king."

Bowing deeply and nodding at his words, Roani chanced a tiny smile. She hoped, no, she knew that Caspian X would be a great king. He was a kind and generous man. Even though he did have a temper, doesn't everyone, he kept it under control. She wished she could control herself as well as their Prince could.

"And Cross, good Cross, you have not bothered me at all. Thank you for your valiant service ? keep it up, as I know that you will, and you will be greatly honoured when victory is ours.?

Roani turned to smile at her friend. Yes, Cross was a valiant person. She had learned that well. He was also a wonderful friend, even though she had known him for a day or two, and maybe he would become more than that. With a wink at Richard, Roani listened to the rest of His Highness' speech.

He spoke of the war, and about his people's "horrible" hospitality. Another smile bloomed as he closed the comversation. The huntress would have enjoyed chewing the other women out some more, but she respected the Prince's wishes. Watching him put an arm around Elba's waist reminded her of Richard's condition. She turned to face him and glanced him over. "You are alright? Let's go back to our cave. And we can find something to eat."

"I'm fine Roani, but there's something I've been meaning to do."
Dragging Roani away from the crowd he held her hand softly, "What I'm about to tell you is to be kept between us two, no one else must know unless the King himself inquires of it."

He signaled a dwarf to fetch his armour, "I've been under your care and am glad for that, but now's the time where I have to step up again despite of my injury. I would plead you not to follow."

He hugged her, her warmth bringing much delight to the embrace. Whispering he spoke into her ear, "This storm has kept me in long enough, I've talked to some of the creatures in this cave of whom I know well of and they have decided to come with me." He paused as he swallowed down what he was about to say, but knowing he was already half way he would have to tell her the rest.
"I'm going with a wolf as well as a few rabbits and squirrels to both seek out any Old Narnians left in the near-by woods. We'll also be checking up on the Telmarines, this will help us as we report back of their position and assist Prince Caspian in any of his attempts. Let us also hope that High King Peter may arrive soon, along with the other king and two queens of old. Wish me luck and hope to see me soon."

By this time he had slowly backed away from the embrace and kissed her cheek, the dwarf was already waiting alongside him with his armour. His full set of armour was set and ready to go, quick it was for him to mount himself with it all while hiding from Caspian's sight. His sword was ready, helmet in place and shield remounted unto his back, "Farewell Roani, I shall return to fight alongside you for Narnia, I promise."

When the entrance was clear Richard bolted out, he noticed both the rabbits and squirrels follow him in quick pace as they out ran him into the thickness of the woods. Only the wolf snuck out quietly in very slow pace, "Let's go..."

((Again, F.Y.I. Roxanne isn't new to the group at all, she's been around for a few weeks so besides Choni, most of you have probably seen her around at the least))

Roxanne was glad to finally see someone who was being all nice and lovely and level-headed.  At least that's what Nirvelli seemed to be to Roxy.  She had enough of the drama that most women brought, but this was a princess!  Roxy supposed that she would want as little drama as possible.  It seemed fitting.  And it was obvious that she knew what as important: the sickly.  Not trying to change your identity.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Princess.  I'm Roxanne Boulegard, daughter of Lord Drake, Protector of Stormness Head...unfortunately," Roxy introduced herself in a respectful manner.  But she didn't want to dwell on herself.  She hated talking about herself...especially with strangers and especially when she ended on the note that she was the daughter of her cursed father.

"I'd be honored to help though, I feel as though I would be uncompassionate to be idle," she said and a few moments later Roxy was handing the princess the blue bottle which she easily found in the beautifully crafted sash.  Roxanne did feel bad that so many had been inquired, even in slight ways.  But she couldn't stop the thought of 'at least it wasn't me' from entering her mind.

She saw a young fawn child, shivering from the cold of wetness and brought her a blanket.  It felt good to help.  But Roxanne felt like this was a one time thing.  An escape from the madness that was around them.  It wasn't like Roxy was planning on becoming and all out loyalist to Caspian who would die for him.  Sure, she thought he deserved to be King but she wouldn't be her life on the line to support that belief.

Caspian seemed to appear out of no where. She had no idea that he'd gotten nearer. She would have jumped with shock but she was a bit too weak. She looked up at him and even as her mind protested when he leaned to support her she leaned back, her muscles seeming to give way too much slack.

?I?ll help you,? he said carefully to her, ?You look worn, and it?ll never do for you to fall ill too. What will we do then? Perhaps? perhaps you can tell me what to do, and I can assist in caring for the sick??

"Perhaps." she repeated "I shoudl rest."

But she hesitated. He was no royal brat, for sure, but he was a Prince and the future King of Narnia. She felt strange even giving him orders. Her mind raced but she blocked out the doubts. Caspian would help in nay event, isn't that why she was so sure of the cause. Where Miraz was ruthless Caspian was kind. Caspian was worthy. She shook her head and looked down the cave, trying to remember her duties.

"Alright your Highness. The Minotaurs in the far corner need water, there are a few of my countrymen who are coming down with fevers and of course there's Adimon." she breathed and steadied herself. "But I can help you."

She smiled slightly.

"And thank you."

So she moved forward, able to walk a bit steadier now. Adimon sat only a few feet ahead and she stepped up, pulling out a skin filled with water and poured it for him, hoping that it would be enough. She settled on the floor, making sure there was plenty of space between them, and looked him square in the eye.

"This may come as a shock to you, Sir, but your now a prisoner of war in the Camp of the Old Narnians." she waited for a a response "And if you don't know what I'm speaking of then we do have much to discuss..."

He wanted to help, that was all he wanted to do. It wasn?t as though he could make any sort of battle plans here, not when he was unsure of the damage and just as unsure of how Miraz and his camp were fairing. For all he knew, they had returned to the castle to wait out the storm in comfort. The problem was, he just didn?t know.

?You?re welcome, he replied, listening carefully to her instructions. Right now, he wasn?t any more important than any one of them here. Right now, they needed to focus all their efforts not on arguing, but on keeping their army healthy and safe. He was here to fight for the Narnians, to restore their country to them. He wasn?t here to watch them die because a storm had trapped them all inside some old, musty caves. No, he wasn?t going to let that happen.

?I?ll go and see to those Minotaurs,? he replied, helping her to Adimon and wondering yet again if he had made the right decision in letting the man live. But it wasn?t as though he could change his mind now? he really couldn?t fret over the issue. Not like the lady Lirain seemed to wish to do. ?I?ll return shortly and see how the prisoner is fairing. Without another word to Elba, he hurried away to get some water for the sickly Minotaurs.

That didn?t take long, and they seemed rather grateful for the drink. Caspian was happy to help. He made a couple of rounds, bringing water and what little he could to increase the sick?s comfort. However, one could only be so comfortable in a cave, with the sounds of rain pouring down around you and the annoying squabbling that could often be heard from some group or another.

Not quite game to face Adimon yet, a little nervous that the man wouldn?t remember ? and all the more nervous that he might ? Caspian made his way to the entrance of the cave. He always seemed to go there and stare out at the rain when he needed to think. And right now, he really needed to think.

His throat felt scratchy and his head was beginning to hurt, but he didn?t want to think about that now. He didn?t want to acknowledge that he could be falling ill too. That would be really rather disastrous.

As Adimon waited for someone to come to him, his mind whirled with potential plans. He determined that it would be best not to try to escape now. Even if they told him who he was, he would have no clue how to get back to wherever it was he came from. He was safe here, it seemed, and while he was a captive, at least he'd be cared for.  So for now, he would simply be a model prisoner. Of course, in the meantime, he would gather what information he could and keep his eye out for a way to escape, in case things began to turn downhill for him or his memory returned.

Adimon was beginning to think they were going to ignore his request when someone -- the healer who'd helped him earlier -- arrived at last.  Her face was drawn and tired, and she wobbled slightly as she poured him some water before sinking to the ground a small distance away.  She'd obviously been neglecting herself in her care for others, and the fact that the others needed that much care told him that this army had more problems than a lack of cohesion.

The healer handed him a cup of water. "Thank you, my lady," he said with a nod.  Turning his attention to the cup of water she'd handed to him, Adimon hesitated for a moment. His hands were still tied; this would be an awkward task. Then with a slight shrug he brought to the cup to his lips, having to raise his left hand along with the right hand that held the cup. He managed to drain the cup with only a few spills. Satisfied, he set -- or rather, dropped -- the cup by his side. Well, that took some effort. He hoped they wouldn't make him perform all of his necessary activities with his wrists and ankles bound.

The healer had spoken while he was in the process of drinking his water, and while he heard her, enough of his concentration was on not spilling too much that he waited until he put the cup down before answering her. At last, he spoke. "My dear lady, it's hardly a shock that I'm a prisoner of war." He'd figured that out almost immediately, actually...  "But I'm afraid I have no clue who the Old Narnians are. Apparently, I must have known that and more at some point in the past, but at the present, I still seem to be suffering from amnesia. I don't even know who I am, much less who all of you are.  So, my lady, any information you would be willing to impart to me would be much appreciated."

Roani stared after Richard and his band disappeared into the forest. A single tear slipped from her grey eyes. Not bothering to brush it away, the girl turned and walked back to her horse. Burying her pale face in his mane, she heaved a sigh. Would Richard come back? No, no. Don't think like that. Of course he will. Her conscience reassured her.

Dar snorted, butting his head against his mistress' shoulder. With a sad smile, Roani picked up a brush from a tack box and began brushing. After a few minutes, the gelding sighed and butting her shoulder again. She put the brush back and went to find some hay or something her mount could eat.

She passed the Prince who was helping the Minotaurs. Concern showed with a furrowing of the brows on Roani's face. Their Prince looked as though he was fading. His eyes looked tired and sort of red. "Your Highness? Why don't you let me help Elba with the man, he knows me from earlier. And you can go rest."

In Caspian's kindness and determination, the huntress was reminded of Richard. Suddenly tears came unbidden to her eyes. She brushed them away, lowering her head so the Prince couldn't see. Roani hated to be weak.

Choni was appalled, her mouth open in shock as he presumed to accuse her of being a Noble woman of Miraz's court! Her hands balled into fists and rested on her hips and she set her mouth in a hard line as he declared the conversation over. She did not take kindly to people such as him.

She remembered as a child, when she had first visited and met the prince, she had thought him cute. Then, he'd opened his mouth and all such thoughts had been washed from her mind.

She had prepared a retort for him, but it would have to wait as she saw him go with Lady Elba to tend to someone. He was crazy he he thought this conversation was over. She turned away, wearing a scowl on her face.

"The nerve of that pompous, inconsiderate, snivilling, snot nosed little brat," she muttered under her breath, ber nostrils flared. She snatched up another hide filled with medicine and began tending the first coughing soldier she saw- a faun.

Despite the need to take care of him, she couldn't help but admire the sheer presence of him! For years, she had dreamed of meeting Old Narnians like from the legends. She had even had a dream of meeting the four Kings and Queens of the Golden Age, but of course, that couldn't happen. Why did this all have to happen in the midst of a war? She sighed as she pushed her fascination to the side and focused soley on the fact that she had to help a sick person.
