Here, here! Now give me back my bow! ... Wait... *blink* Did I just AGREE with CASPIAN? o.O

What about hiding only the weapons of Miraz's army?
February 24, 2010, 02:11:17 PM
What about we start by hiding everyone's weapons?
January 30, 2010, 09:42:09 PM
We can just play some game that doesn't include our weapons being hijacked like Hide and Seek.

I don't like games that include my bow being hijacked! It is very special to me! *climbs other tree*

Thinking of creating another character? Into Narnia could particularly use more non-humans (particularly Talking Animals), Telmarines (esp. soldiers), Archenlanders, Calormenes, and member requests.

I am really bored and was looking through the character profiles, particularly the Pevensie's, and I noticed, I think it was on Susan's profile, a dispute about the ages. Now, since I am extremely bored at.... 2:32 in the morning... I went to The Lion's Call to look at the Timeline and do a little math.

Peter was born in 1927, Susan in '28, Edmund in '30, and Lucy in '32. They entered the wardrobe in 1940, making them 13, 12, 10, and 8 respectively, so, that would make them 14, 13, 11, and 9 respectively in the next book. And this is what happens when you're bored.

I actually think it's awesome that they're older than they're supposed to be (with the exception of Lucy), because seriously, in LWW, did anyone other than Lucy actually look the age they were supposed to be playing? And now that it's three years later, they REALLY don't look the ages they're supposed to be playing.

So, I think it's awesome. 16, 15, 13, and 11 fit more to how they look now than the two years younger they are supposed to be.

I'm sorry if this post was a bother, but I was really bored and wanted to share.

Yeah, we fudged a bit on the ages. The exact ages, of course, depend on when their birthdays are in relation to what month the books take place, but no matter how you look at it, we've made them older in this RP. Here, they're 9, 12, 14, and 16, though I think I might make Lucy 10 to make her age a little more consistent with the other ages (speaking of changes, I really do need to expand her profile...). The reason for the fudging was indeed partly because of how old the actors look. Besides, strictly speaking, the timeline isn't canon, as none of the dates or ages appear in the books.

seriously, in LWW, did anyone other than Lucy actually look the age they were supposed to be playing? And now that it's three years later, they REALLY don't look the ages they're supposed to be playing.

No they don't. And Ben Barnes esp. doesn't look like the age Caspian is supposed to be, *grumble, grumble*.  Now part of my beef with that is made up for by the fact that he's just so darn good-looking, but on the other hand, they're playing up that card for all it's worth which kind of gets annoying.

Still, I'm REALLY excited for Prince Caspian, as long as I don't compare it to the book.

Well... the ages are sort of right... Hahaha. Besides, I think it's a good thing there aren't exact dates. It gives you more freedom to play around with it.

Ben Barnes. *squeals!* Mine! Mine! Mine! *turns into an Australian segul* o.O *giggle* Yeah, he's definately too old. According to the timeline, he's supposed to be 13. But I love him anyway.

Yeah, there's freedom, but Ben Barnes is 26 years old, playing a 17 year old in the movie who's supposed to be 13 years old in the book. That's taking the freedom a bit too far.  Partially because of the age change, they're developing the character a little differently because of that, and the part of me that likes everything to be JUST like the books is VERY apprehensive about the movie (for other changes as well).

But I still can't help melting whenever I look at Barnes! (Though I admit, the clips/commercials/whatever in which they're trying doubly hard to make him look like a model or whatever actually just make me laugh and think less of him.  He looks fine enough without them taking it over the top! But then, they do it for a reason, so I guess it works for some people.)

26?!?!?!!? I didn't know that! O_O Shows you how much research I did on the movie. *Merely looked up the trailer on YouTube when her older brother announced he saw it on TV.*

Okay, he's hot, but I really do dislike it greatly when they take older people and try to pass them off as teenagers. Granted, Ben Barnes has that teenager sort of look still with him, but still.

Veronica Mars: Worst TV show to ever try to pass 20-somethings off as teenagers. *Shudders*

Every single one of the "high school"ers were in their twenties, minus one or maybe two. And there were about 10 major characters and several more minor ones. Yeah, eww.

And since Cara spoiled this for me, well, I guess I'll spill it here too. On Hannah Montana, the actor who plays Jackson (a sixteen-year-old), Jason Earles, is 31 years old.

Anyways, on the ages, we did fudge a bit. But mostly, like Misha said, it was to align better with the actor's ages. It's a tad annoying about it, but something just didn't seem right about making the characters their exact ages when their actors were much older. And the BBC Narnia movies made all the children look like they were 10.

Yeah, Ben is def. too old...by a long shot.  He is suppose to be Peter's age...like 15 (or was it 14) anyways.  I read in an interview on why they picked him and it said (and I quote) "Because he was sexy".  Well it was something along the lines of because...sexy.  Arg.  When was Narnia sexy?!?!  Not that I mind *blush* it's just not accurate...arg.

Yeah, I think that's the main reason why I don't like the previews/pictures/interviews where they make him look sexy.  Part of it, as I said earlier, is because that sort of thing doesn't appeal to me, but part of it makes me mad because it's SO unlike the Caspian I think of. I saw a preview where they were talking about Barnes' training in sword fighting. The actual sword fighting part was cool, but they also had a clip of him just walking down the hall so that it looked quite "sexy", and since they were representing him as Caspian, I got kinda upset because that's NOT what it's supposed to be like.

The fact that he looks too old is bad enough (to me, he looks 25, and doesn't even pass as a 17 year old...and the whole sexy thing doesn't help make him look younger), but to make him all model-like is just argh.

...Haha, I've ranted enough on this thread about Barnes. I think I'll stop now. Wink

And yeah, the Jackson thing Jordan mentioned....*shudders*.

As for the BBC Pevensie kids, I didn't think they looked all that off, except for Lucy (I MUCH prefer Georgie Henley).  Though Lucy and Susan should have switched hair colors. And while I'm not overly fond of Jonathan Scott's performance as Edmund, by appearance at least, he fits my picture of Edmund more than Skandar Keynes (though it's still not spot on). Skandar does a better job acting IMO, though.

Caspian, though, does look a little too young in the BBC series. Though I prefer a little too young to a lot too old...

1. I LOVE VERONICA MARS! T_T *really doesn't care about the age thing, they were juniors and seniors anyway*

2. Caspian is supposed to be 13. I looked it up and did the math. I was bored.

3. Let's just rewind time, kill the casting director and choose the actors ourselves.

Besides a few gripes with the characters (William Moseley, I think, is too old, but he makes a perfect Peter image), I think the Pevensies are done well. It's just Caspian. While I think he's a good actor, it's just frustrating that they insist on changing the age to attract more publicity.

And these are Christian-themed stories, why is the sexy angle even being played?! I don't mind the romantic implications between Susan and Caspian, it seems quite possible that she'd be attracted or even infatuated with him, but Adamson doesn't need to rub that angle in the faces of the audience.

Yeah, I don't mind the ages of the Pevensies in the current movies too much, even if they all looked too old in LWW (except Georgie and maybe Skandar).  They all look even more too old for the part in Prince Caspian, but I'm used them in the part so it doesn't bug me as much.  Plus, they all fit my image of the children pretty well, except for Skandar (and I would prefer Lucy's hair to be lighter). But Caspian... Oh well, he looks very good for the part of the Caspian in Voyage of the Dawn Treader at least.

Speaking of Dawn Treader, I wonder who they'll get to play Eustace... (Actually what I really want to know is who's going to play Shasta and Aravis, since The Horse and His Boy is my favorite book, but that's too far in the future to even tell if they're going to make it at all...)

Yeah, hair color has always bugged me forthe characters. Like in the BBC movies, I always hated that Susan's hair was blonde when it was supposed to be black. I always had this image the way they described her in the book, how her dark hair grew to her feet and she was the envy of, like, everyone. And I got mad at the end of LWW when the adult Susan didn't have super long hair XD Actually, I think I'm just obsessed with hair. When I draw, everyone tells me the hair is the best part XD

Yes! Actually, several things about the adult Pevensies bugged me, but oh well, they weren't in the film very long!

I'm not usually too picky about hair, but I think the girls' hair color/style sort of matches their personalities, and I would prefer Susan to have black hair (that's long and gorgeous by the end of her time in Narnia) and Lucy to be golden-haired. Susan is refined and elegant, where Lucy is the laughing, golden-haired child, so to speak. It just fits. Oh well, Anna has dark hair, and Georgie does so well as Lucy that I can't hold her hair color against her. But would it have been too hard to use a long, dark wig for the adult Susan???
