Below are the rules and guidelines of the site. Please before you do anything on the site. All players are responsible for knowing the rules.
General GuidelinesPlease read all of the rules below. This is not like any of the other sites you have been on before, and what was allowed there may or may not be allowed here.
* You are free to register with a name other than your character name. However, your
display name must be set to your character's full, first or nick name.
* Into Narnia is a
PG-13 RPG. There is some violence, some profanity, some romance, but please keep the intensely graphic nature down. If you need to write it, write it in a PM and share it with the person you're RPing with. Otherwise, just don't write it. If your parents or you as a parent wouldn't want teenagers to read it, don't write it.
* This is a site for members of all ages, genders, race, and abilities. Please be aware of this and adjust your demeanor likewise.
* Profanity is discouraged in all OOC posting areas. We realize that there may be times when swearing is appropriate, but please try to keep it to email, PM and IMs.
* Spamming will not be tolerated. "Spam stands for Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages" (
Urban Dictionary) Please make your posts count.
* This is not a warez/porn/hacking site. Please do not post links to inappropriate content or sites containing this content in public forums. Links to porn, warez, cracks, hacking materials, etc, will be deleted. Members who post these links will be reprimanded, and should they continue, will have further punishment dealt. Additionally, inappropriate pictures and porn will not be tolerated.
* Advertising is restricted to the Advertising forum. If you want to affiliate with IN, pm an administrator. Otherwise, keep it out of the general forums. Exception: You may have one link in your signature to another roleplaying site. You may also use the website feature of your profile to accomplish this.
* Please be respectful of the staff and other members here. We're all human, we all go through bad days, and the best advice is to take the day off from the 'net. Please be aware that harassment, threats, derogatory comments, racist/sexists/discriminatory comments and general disrespective behavior is not tolerated. The first part of the password is: Space. Posing as another person or hacking into their accounts, posting of private messages in public without permission of both parties, or any other action deemed to be an invasion of privacy is also deemed disrespectful and will result in further consequences.
* You are free to give out as much personal information as you wish. Be aware of the dangers of doing so, however. Into Narnia is not responsible for any loss of identity that results from members divulging personal information on the site.
* Do NOT share your password with anybody. It's just not smart. People can access your account and do all sorts of weird stuff. Trying to hack another person's account, as well, will not be tolerated.
Roleplaying GuidelinesPlease read all rules and information before writing an application. This is not any of the previous sites you have been on, you may not simply post the profile or format you used on any of them. Profiles that do not adhere to the story or elements of Narnia will not be accepted.
* Please post regularly. We know people have lives, but remember that you made a commitment to post when you joined an RP thread. If you're going to be leaving for a certain time, please let people know by posting in the RP thread's OOC Roleplay Discussion topic or a separate announcement.
* Into Narnia is an English-based game, and therefore, all RP posts must be written in English. Speech or thoughts may be written in another language, but it's polite to provide a translation either directly in the text, or noted at the end of the post. Also, please use formal language in your posts, no chat speak (lol, u, brb, rofl, w00t, etc) or 1337 speak (h3110 7h3r3) or needless abbreviations (govt., Capt., CDR, etc). This makes your posts look disorderly and unprofessional, and is undesired by many members. Profanity is allowed if it fits your character's personality or the situation, but please make a note at the beginning of your post if your character makes excessive use of profanity.
* There are no word caps or word minimums for posts. We understand that these force users to artificially create posts to fit these limits, and that hampers RPing more than helps. However, Into Narnia is a game with a good literary base. As such, we would like to see posts of a good quantity being made, as well as maintaining quality. One or two liners are not permitted. A good rule of thumb would be to post as much as the person above you, and if you're starting the thread, to post more than you normally would for a reply. Another good guideline would be to make your posts at least a paragraph long. Any shorter, and your post probably isn't contributing much to the thread.
* You may only control your own characters and NPCs. Using another player's character or NPC without their permission is called power playing and will not be allowed. If you wish to include another character in your post, make sure that the character has already been posted performing that action/speaking/etc. or that you have the permission of the player to do so.
* Your character is not omniscient. They cannot read minds or feel other people's emotions. Your character can react to the other character's actions, appearance, speech, etc, but keep what you know and what your character knows separate. This is the basics of IC/OOC, or In Character/Out of Character separations. What someone else posts about a character's thoughts, feelings, background, etc is not what your character is privy to. If you have any doubts or questions, feel free to PM the character's player.
* Please keep things open ended in your posts, do not force perceptions or actions on other characters. The second part of the password is: Ponies! Your character may try to look cool, but not everyone will perceive him/her as such. Or they may try to convince others of something, but may not be successful.
* No godmodding. You may not make your characters invincible or all-powerful. This does not always mean combat. Godmodding is unfair to other players and makes the roleplay boring, and will not be tolerated by the site.
* Please make your character's intentions clear, as we cannot hear the tone of their voice, or see their facial expressions. If you can describe them, do so, but make sure the players know what your character means, even if their characters don't.
* Death is a natural part of life, even in a roleplaying game. Your character can die in this game, but not likely without your permission. Permission is automatically granted when you enter in combat with another character, or perform a risky activity. If you enter into combat, you and the other player(s) are free to talk it out to decide the outcome, but you may also be faced with an outcome you don't like. If you enter combat, fight it out, make it enjoyable to read. Should any disputes arise, the staff will consider the roleplay and characters and decide the outcome.
* Please be aware that if you perform any godmodding, abuse, etc. you may be asked to edit your post. Also, if you misinterpret or mis-state anything of another character, you may also be asked to edit your post. Please respect these requests, as players like their characters properly represented, and the staff would like to have you edit your own posts instead of forcing an edit on you.
* If you must make OOC comments in a roleplay thread, tag them with "OOC" or something so we know that they are not part of the RP. Please use the OOC Roleplay Discussion forum for longer conversations.
* CAPITAL LETTERS WILL BE READ AS SHOUTING. Use bold for emphasis.
* You may need to specify who your character is speaking to. Make their actions and dialogue clear if you need to.
* You may play as many characters as you can keep up with. If you are not able to do so, you may be asked to drop a character.
* Please make a new account for every character you have, and set the display name appropriate to your character. Also, if you wish to have your accounts linked, please PM an administrator to do so.
* You may have as many NPCs as you wish, however if they feature often in your roleplays, you will need to make a profile for them in the NPC Registration forum. Please use NPCs wisely. Abusing their numbers or abilities such as using them to godmod or overpower a group of people, easily win the battle, etc. will not be tolerated. Don't forget that NPCs have weaknesses too. Only use NPCs that you have created or have permission to use. If you wish to use another player's NPC, please contact them to obtain their permission.
