Here's just an idea that popped up... What if we had all the ladies of the Telmarine court have a little tea gathering.. or something? If you have a better idea than tea, do share! xD It was just a random inspiration, but I think it could be fun! I realize there are barely any but there's Shayla, Lady Mira, Helena Everlight (she's not really a Telmarine but it would be any eligible young lady around, really)... and I think the others might all be inactive.. =/ But what do you all think? All the young women in a room together, what more fun could there be? ;]

We could even plan a little invasion of men, if it were so wanted by you guys. Hmm...

Drinian's going to be at the palace for a day before he heads off to the war. Can't say he'd necessarily be interested in tea as he's here mostly for business, but he could happen upon them, of course.

Additionally, if anyone wants any sort of backstory with Drinian, he's spent many years in the palace growing up and is a notable lord of Telmar, so it's possible he would be visiting someone (a good friend or something) before he headed out if he knew they were there. Just a thought.

You could always have an NPC rake/desperate beau break in--one who has been pursuing one, of not all of said ladies. That might be amusing. (Also leading to either said rake being doused in tea or set on fire by tea candles or a possible "damsel in social distress" situation, which Drinian tends to specialise in.)

Or, of course, there could always be some bit of awkward gossip that comes out at the tea, or decisions made on the current situation on the war . . . this could either lead to union and mobilization of the Telmarine girls in Telmar or some inner conflict. . .

Well, Raeka, you've certainly got me thinking! (Which some may consider a dangerous passtime, but I quite enjoy it!) Anyhow, I volunteer Drin's services should they be pertinent or plausible.

The teadumping/damselindistressing is a must do! Hee! I love it. And it would be good to have a Narnia/Telmarine discussion... you know, develop some feuds about the palace. Makes things all the more interesting for us! I just wish more people were active... ):

Ohh... and I was thinking, being as Drinian's been in the castle most of his life, just like Shayla, that she would have been harboring this huge crush on him for ages. But she's so shy anyway... she'd only get shier around him. So obviously he'd never know about it. But it would be fun for me. xD She'd probably adore him (from afar of course, hehe) and he'd barely know she existed. And if he did ever recognize her existence she probably wouldn't be able to respond. =P So anyways, now that I've exposed my random plan. Ha.

We should definitely have some bratty NPCs doing random annoying things, etc. What fun. x]

The crush idea sounds so fun! I've gone and read  Shayla's profile; love it. (She's fully crush-worthy, though we'll have to see how that goes. Drinian's not one for flirting much at all, though he is very observant. He probably would notice the looks Shayla gives him, but likely not think anything of it, since he doesn't really worry about whether *he* is crushworthy.)

I did have a question about Shayla, which could lead to other plot ideas. My question is regarding the "Lady of the Court" status. Typically in European courts, Ladies of the court waited on high ranking members of the royalty. Even if they were helping the queen get dressed every morning (a "servant's job"), it would be a position that most countesses would die for, because it allowed them to be in the middle of things at court. What is it that Shayla does as a lady at court? Is she just there, or does she have duties?

If she is waiting on, say, the queen, this would make her opinion of Miraz and the whole birth much more difficult (and dangerous). It also could lead Drinian to the honest confusion of, in the past, taking her for a servant if she dressed modestly. Drinian gets to know the servants, but he wouldn't really open up to them if they didn't want to open up to him; he doesn't feel like invading on their private sphere, at times, recognising that sometimes servants just want time apart from the "masters." This might account for why he didn't ever speak to Shayla or give her much notice. Also, if she was helping the queen, she would likely hear conversations between the king and queen, and therefore know everything from this-and-that arranged marriage to possibly even something about Caspian. (Which of course is one of the reasons why this position was so coveted.)

And considering her love for babies, she might even help out with the prince?

Anyhow. You just said "any more ideas?" And I . . . yeah. Sorry. Haha. These are all fully disposable, dispensable, disregard-able comments.

This is a wonderfully exciting idea! Poor Helena would feel so terribly awkward as a commoner among a group of proper ladies xD.

Many interesting things could happen as a result of such a contrast in social status between Helena and the other ladies. If we used Drin's idea of a conversation/sharing of opinions about the war, Helena's views would likely be very different from those of the ladies of the court, which could cause some friction.

Oh, I just had an idea! Since in the thread I'm working on with Drin and you, Raeka, Helena is in desperate need of a clean-up, perhaps we could somehow work it so that she ends up getting tidied up at the castle? That way, she would have the opportunity to meet some of the court ladies, make some acquaintances, and end up being invited to the get-together as a result of that? (Of course, she'd be hesitant, but some "Oh, come on"-ing would eventually sway her.) Not only would that give Helena an entry point into this plot, but it gives us somewhere to go in our other thread.

That's my two cents. And of course I'll need to know what Drin and Raeka think of my plan. xD

Feel free to start. The only thing is we might not know how Helena and Drin would get from the stables to there (and Drinian's at the stables, on the Telmarine Front, may soon be meeting with Caspian before a fray that happens after the stables and party yet before the front . . . ) May be a bit much.

On that side-note, can I close (temporarily) the thread/entry that never got started: the Telmarine front, since that's not going anywhere? Or I guess that can be just before he goes to see Caspian . . .

You ladies can get together though. Drinian can come along later.

Hey! Just have to say. Every time I read the thread to this title, I think "All the Single Ladies!" Hah. Anyways.

Well, I'm not sure if Lady Mira is still game (I haven't seen her here for a bit. . .) But I'm more than willing to NPC the creeper-stalker guy. My thought is that he's one of "those guys." Flirts with every girl . . . got a reputation of being particularly annoying. That way, he could have flirted with any of the girls on any given day. But since I'm not wanting that thread to die, I think we will have him pick on Shayla first.

Sound good? Drin can maybe come in later. He invited Helena, so maybe she'll come, too!

Wow. So I just found a passage in my very boring 18th C reading that describes my new NPC, Jare: "Puzzlecause [name of man] had degenerated from a god-fearing man, for which his Godly Parents design'd him, to a very wicked, but awkward, Rake." Hahah. Thought that was funny. Anyhow.
