General Personality: Mara is a bold-hearted girl. She is very much likable and has a kind side to her. Whoever meet might say that she is a little off, but good to the heart. She has a drum of her own beat. Making waves was what she does best and never turning back is a rule of hers. Making friends was never hard for her, almost everyone in Verona Forest says she is the sweetest dryad they had ever met.
Laughing and making other people laugh is her specialty. In good company, she always had the crowd on their backs by the end of their visit. Though there is a serious side to Mara. Whenever she has a troubled friend, she listens to what they have to say from hers and he or she's point of view. Almost everyone she knows comes to her for advice. She always knows what to say and when to say it. Understanding others is an accomplishment of hers.
Never has she once misunderstood a person, and even if she did, she would ask them to explain. Mara can keep a secret and knows when not to. Her middlename isn't Serenity for nothing, she always seems to have her emotions in check, but does like to express herself a lot. She does that through her art and dance. Painting pictures of all types of landscapes and learning all different kinds of dances. Mara is a moderately out-going person, but can clam up sometimes. But overall she cares and people care back because of that.
Character HistoryParents: Tree Gods
Siblings: All other Dryads
General History: Mara was never normal to begin with. But that didn't bother her. Her first few years in her tree, and the other Dryads had noticed that she had a vast imagination. Being a free-thinker, Mara learned quickly from the other Dryads, and things around her. Over the next corse of the year, her mind had expanded far beyond someone for at her age. Everything she said seemed to make sense instantly, she never had to explain things to the people around her, for they could understand her completely. But that was before all the trees shut themselves up to the world. After that, she only thought to herself, having never even seperated from her small oak sapling.
The next few years had been hard, some of her siblings had died. Word had been sent by the woodland creatures. She had overheard a pair of chipmunks talking about them. But no one can last forever... can they? In her pursuit to make things right again, she grew depressed and weary. Another thing that wasn't normal. How she was going to make things right, she did not know. Mara was only a stupid little Dryad stuck in her tree. Winters were fiercer and summers were almost unbearable for her. How was she supposed to survive to even change a thing? For all she knew her brothers and sisters could have died from natural causes.
But they were healthy the last time I heard them! It didn't make any sense. If someone had killed them, why and who? She was getting angry now.
Maybe they were accidentally knocked over by a giant? But Mara hadn't seen a giant in ages.
What could be happening? Is it fate? Or maybe an illness that is spreading amoungst the other Dryads, that hasn't reached me or my friends? Finally Mara couldn't take it any longer. Her anger turned into blind fury, she was so used to being calm and collected about everything, that nothing seemed right anymore. Mara's heart broke into an uneven beat... But trees don't have hearts... Suddenly she saw through hazel-colored bright eyes, breathed through two nostrils, tasted through her pink tongue.
Her hair was a golden blonde, skin an earthy yet pale tone. Mara was slender and tall. She felt through her new hands and feet, everything. Smiling for the first time, she took a step. A human step. Well, still a Dryad step. She turned and saw the tree that she was bound to, and saw that it was slender and tall too.
"Amazing..." Mara whispered, then shouted,
"AMAZING!" Hearing her new-found voice echo.
"Thank you!" Mara yelled at no one in particular.
She wandered about for a couple of hours, and finally decided her fate. She was to head toward Telmar.
Other/Notes: The sound of her voice can calm anyone who wants to be calmed.
SampleRP Sample: Mara leaped from rock to rock. She was amazingly strong for someone who had just walked her first steps only a couple of hours ago. She looked at the running river beneath her. She was headed toward Telmar, where word had come that the Prince had been killed. Mara couldn't even imagine the possibilities that were sure to arrive. After she actually thought the whole "go-to-Telmar-to-see-if-the-Prince-really-was-killed" plan through, she decided that it would be better for her to stick to Verona Forest, though Mara did want to explore and get closer to more civilization. So she kept on her way to Telmar, but
finally made the decision of Going near the edge of the forest, nearest the Telmarine's castle.
Dancing around, Mara spotted a little wood thrush.
"Hey little buddy, what are you doing out here all alone?" When it didn't answer, she became puzzled.
"Are you sick? Or maybe hurt?" But the bird just cocked its' head to the side. It didn't seem sick or hurt.
"Why won't you speak? All the other thrush's I've met have chatted to me, and I could chat to them all day long!" The thrush flitted off from where it was, on a huge pine tree branch. Hurt and confused, Mara walked along.
That was strange, it's like the bird couldn't understand me. Something in her gut told her that the bird really couldn't speak.
Psh, that's crazy, maybe it was just too shy to say anything! Shrugging, she continued to dance, twirling around with joy, until she got dizzy. In her couple of hours as human, well, dryad-human? she had talked to everyone she could. All of the creatures had talked back to her, except the wood thrush. Laughing, Mara thought,
Well, I guess I should've known that people get that strange sensation when they spin around. I mean, I saw Rabbit do it at least a dozen times, after he saw that cute Hare! Shaking her head at the thought, Mara started to run, testing her new legs was probably a good idea before she met other people, so she didn't look like an idiot, or a fish out of water.
Running felt so exhilarating to her, it was magical. Like a kind of high in energy, without the need of that nasty plant she saw some people use, especially one naughty knome. Frowning, she knew that she would have helped him if she could have.
He was just in too deep! He didn't even listen to reason, and all that bad stuff I heard about it. Mara sighed, that was all behind her now. Her new life had begun and with it a new sense of happiness. Still running, she dodged a tree in her way. Slowing to a jog, most people would have been breathless after a run like that, but she hadn't even broken a sweat.
Atleast I know my legs work correctly, and better than I would have thought! Smiling at herself, she wondered what this new life would bring.
