This is Narnia. Once a unique land, covered in Talking Animals and majestic mythical creatures, now just another human country. This is Narnia, where the names of High King Peter, Queen Susan, King Edmund and Queen Lucy were once known and spoken with reverence. Now they are cast as myths by those in power, and never spoken of by anyone except in secret. This is Narnia, once a peaceful and prosperous nation, now a country in despair. This is Narnia.
Several hundred years ago, Narnia was invaded by a group of humans from neighboring Telmar. After a vicious war, the Telmarines rose triumphant, and the Talking Animals of Narnia withdrew into hiding. Some Animals became dumb, like those on Earth. Some left Narnia to places unknown. And some wait for a rightful king, a good and kind ruler behind whom they can rally.
Now, at last, it seems as though that king may have appeared. Only he’s not a king yet, just a Telmarine prince whose uncle has usurped the throne. But this prince, Caspian, has been united with a unique tutor, who teaches him about the real history of Narnia, about the Talking Animals and the Golden Age of the High Kings and Queens. And on the night of the birth of Caspian's cousin, an heir to his uncle's throne, this tutor saves him from certain death. Alerted by his tutor, the boy flees from the castle walls, riding away through the night until he finds himself in the middle of the Talking Animals, the Old Narnians.
These creatures have a plan, and once they realize who he is, their plan begins to take form. They journey to the Dancing Lawns to gather other talking creatures, and soon a large force has gathered. And their plan? To rise up against the boy's uncle, King Miraz, and restore Narnia to its rightful place. The army moves to Aslan's How, a fortified hill over the ancient Stone Table. There they are met by Miraz' forces, and cornered.
In this time of desperate need, Prince Caspian takes out the treasure given to him by his tutor: the ancient horn of Queen Susan the Gentle, said to bring help to those who call for it. He blows the horn, calling for assistance that just might give the Narnians the advantage they need to win back their freedom.
At that moment, the four Pevensie children waiting for their school train in war-torn England are suddenly whisked away to a world they knew a lifetime ago. It is not the world they remember, however, and as they sort through the ruins of an old building, they realize where they are. Narnia, and the castle of Cair Paravel... or what's left of it anyways. For while only a year has passed in their world since they reigned as the High Kings and Queens of Narnia, over a thousand years have gone by in the land they loved. What has happened in this time to cause such destruction to their castle? They are determined to find out.
For the Old Narnians, the help promised by the horn can not come soon enough. The camp of this disorganized and untrained army has recently been destroyed by a storm, which has also caused many to fall ill. Fortunately for them, not all is well within King Miraz' camp either. For while all of Miraz' people appear to support him, some very prominent men have begun to scheme behind his back.
Where will you stand in this conflict? Will you fight as an Old Narnian for what was taken from you centuries ago? Will you help your Telmarine kinsmen destroy this ancient evil, the unnatural talking creatures who threaten to destroy the only way of life you've ever known? Will you simply try to live your life as normally as possible in the midst of this turmoil? The possibilities are endless, but you must choose wisely: the fate of Narnia rests in your hands.
Have you made your decision? Then get out of your chair, and just step through the door right
Into Narnia!
Note: While we encourage you to read the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis or to see the movies, you do not need to have done so to participate in this RP. However, if you have not done either, we strongly suggest you at least read the "Plot Summary" in the Wikipedia entry for Prince Caspian (the story this RP is based on). It may also be helpful for you to look over the Wikipedia entry for Narnia, the world in which this RP takes place.Note 2: You may have noticed from our Canon List that we also encourage Archenlanders and Calormenes. Such characters may be quite interested in the conflict in Narnia, or may be too wrapped up in their own affairs in their own country to care about the country to the North. We currently have no site-wide plot for Archenland or Calormen, so if you're playing a character who resides in one of these countries, you are completely free to come up with your own plans and plots without being constrained by canon!
