Mara wandered through a huge lawn, twirling around. She had been with legs for three days now, and she loved it. Delicately, she tip-toed to a nearby lilly of the valley. It looked beautiful under the shimmering moonlight. Her guess was that it was around midnight, though she hadn't been keeping track. It was a glowing silvery-orb of light, dancing in the night, just like her. A kindly old chickadee had led her to where someone had left clothes lying about. It was stange, she thought, that someone would just leave clothes, beautiful I might add, lying around for anyone to pick up. Looking down at the magnificent dress, Mara smiled. It was a silvery color, matching the light of the moon. It danced with her, rippling and swaying as her body did. Ruffled around the colllar, just above the bosom. It fit Mara perfectly, knee-length and with T-Shirt sleeves. She knew that it wasn't at all what style she had heard of listening to the birds chat while she was asleep, but that didn't matter to her. Mara easily flowed with it, watching the ripples as she went. Though she was bare-foot, the ground didn't hurt to walk on, even if it was twigs and acorns and pine cones.

Falling down gently on the grass, Mara looked up at the stars. They were twinkling, and she wished she could name each constallation she had heard about so many times before. Sighing, Mara let her mind wander, looking at nothing in particular. She wondered if there was anything out there, in the stars, just beyond reach. Streaching, her eyes got heavy. Mara had never had to sleep every night before, so she tried to stay awake, though the hum of cacadas and light melody of the crickets told her to sleep.

OOC: Yay, something for my charry to do! I hope you don't mind if I join!  Smiley

IC: Damien stretched his magnificent wings to their fullest extent, savoring the crisp air rushing through the iron blue and rust red feathers. He had to admit that the atmosphere of night, though not his preferred time to be awake, was pleasant and relaxing. Damien was more of a sun-loving gryphon, but a little variation could be a good thing, and Damien needed some time to relax.

The gryphon had been with the Narnians for a few days now, and he had not ventured far outside of it during the night yet. His only real flights now were a few scouting missions and hunts. Though the scouting was fun, he had never enjoyed hunting. Despite being one of the most powerful predators of the air, Damien was not one who could brag about his hunting skills. He shook his head. He was one-hundred ten years old; he really should have gotten over his poor hunting ability by now.

Damien had decided to take a break from the duties of the camp and hunting, and just go on a pleasant night flight. The stars and moon shown with a glorious silver brilliance, illuminating the land in a misty glow. The soft light and cool air relieved Damien's stress, and he had felt rejuvinated as soon as he had taken off.

Well, I guess a little relaxation time is always a good thing when you're at work, he thought mildly. His sharp yellow gaze suddenly caught something far below, in the Dancing Lawn. What's that? he wondered, intrigued.

Damien circled around to investigate, and realized that the figure in the field was a dryad. The gryphon decided to land; any dryad out from slumber was worth meeting and talking to.

The large gryphon flapped gently over to the edge of the trees, turned to the side and not directly facing the dryad so as not to frighten her. He wasn't sure how she would react to his presence. Damien alighted quietly on the grassy ground and turned to look at the dryad, who looked as if she was about to fall asleep.

"Greetings, fair mistress of the trees," Damien said formally, in a friendly tone, "Would you mind if we talked for a while? I am intrigued by your presence, for there are very few dryads who are awake. I assure you, I mean no harm."

OoC: Yeah, it's fine! I finally get to RP, and I haven't done any in a long time!

IC: Hearing the gentle swoop of what Mara though to be a bird, she rose from her postion, from lying to sitting. His landing was dream-like to her, since she was almost in a trance-like state. Even so, she could tell that this wasn't a dream. Smiling crookedly, Mara stared at the magnificent beast. Its' wings were handsome, with deep-sea ocean blue and an almost maroon red. Seeing him land, his wings slowly coming back to his sides, Mara wondered what it would be like to fly, though the thought was frightening since she had been rooted to the ground all her life.

Hearing the gryphon's inviting tone, Mara spoke kindly to him, "And greetings to you too. I wouldn't mind if we even talked all night long, this is a first time in a long time that I've talked. So tell me, what is your name, gryphon?" Curious as to what news he would bring, Mara stood up, confident that she had just earned a new friend.

His wings must have been as long as her body, maybe even longer. His head curved slowly into a beak, and Mara looked in fascination at his lion's tail. He was extraordinary, feathers glistening in the moonlight. Mara twirled and brought out her hand in a fluid movement. Bowing low to the ground, she smiled to herself. I think this will be a great new life! I hope I meet tons of new friends!

Damien approached the dryad calmly. He had been pleased by her friendly tone, for he wasn't sure how she would react. In truth, he had thought any dryad out and about at the present would be timid and fearful. Maybe it was the fact that he was of Narnian blood, and obviously not of the enemy, that had assured her. But of course, that would depend on the fact that she knew what was going on. Maybe she didn't.

The gryphon decided to stretch out on the grass with his limbs tucked neatly beneath him. He found a nice spot near the dryad to recline. "I am Damien Arrowing, mistress dryad. I have never had a conversation with a dryad before, so I do hope that this will be enlightening for the both of us. Perhaps I should start by telling you a little about myself," he said, his yellow eyes glittering.

"I'm from an island off the coast of Archenland. A group of gryphons migrated there after the Telmarines invaded Narnia. Though I was born there, I have been in many different places, including Archenland and Narnia a few decades ago. I tried to stop the Telmarines then by assasinating their king, but my venture failed, and I am here now again to aide a group of rebel Narnians who are going to try to overthrow him," he explained. Damien ruffled his wings a little, an unconscious habit of his.

"Well, that pretty much covers my side, oh, except maybe you should know that I'm 110 years old," he laughed, "So why are you out and about? Most dryads, as far as I know, are deep in a slumbering hibernation." Damien was a very curious gryphon by nature, and could not resist getting straight to his most urgent question. He ruffled his kestrel-colored feathers in anticipation.

Mara sat down again, this time next to Damien. After hearing his story, she was amazed how much she had missed while asleep. "Wow... I can't believe I've missed so much! Oh, and by the way, my name is Mara Johnson. As you know, I am a dryad, and a very lucky one at that." Sighing, she began to tell her tale.

"I had been asleep for over thirteen-hundred years, though I don't think that you could have told that by my appearance. Two chipmunks had been chatting by my tree, when I overheard something very unsettling to me." Pausing to collect her thoughts, Mara slowly moved on, "You see, some of my sisters had been killed... I got so enraged, I couldn't even think straight. And that wasn't normal for me, since I'm usually quite calm. The sudden spike in my emotions must have set it off, atleast that's what I  think."

Mara took a deep breath and then continued, "Then I changed, miraculously! I didn't even know what had happened at first..." Grinning at herself, she looked up at Damien. "I think that's about it... Well, I'm absolutely not puzzled now, as you can see." Waiting for Damien's reaction, Mara began to entangle her hands in the lush, green grass around her.
