Alias(es)/Nickname(s): Lena- Alias is Dharr
Gender: F
Age:17
Race: Human- Calmorene
Status/Title: Tarkheena/ Soldier in Disguise
Affiliation: Admittedly, Adelliana has no firm alliances, though because she stumbled upon the Telmars first, she fights for them.
Character AppearanceHair:Her hair falls to her upper back in ringlets, the color of her hair a shade of deepest brown. While in the Tarkhan's court, Adelliana's hair hung loose, cascading down her back in a waterfall of loose curls, but since she has run off and taken on the visage of a young man, she cropped her curls, wearing the once lovely tresses in a rather masculine ponytail.
Eyes: Deep cerulean blue tinted with the slightest hint of gray. Tarkheena Adelliana's eyes are the major element which shows her emotions. They may shine with excitement at times, or dim to her inner disappointment, perhaps glitter with calculation, and burn with passionate anger. Thick eyelashes ring her eyes, as well as darkened eyebrows- shaped in the Calormene fashion. However, Adelliana has been careful to neglect her eye makeup/appearance in the hopes that her rather effeminate features will look less pretty, and more like a young lad.
Distinguishing marks: A slight scar runs along her right fore-arm, from a childhood incident involving her brother and a scimitar. Other than that, Adelliana is rather lanky, and boyish looking- her womanly curves never filled in properly, making it easy for the Tarkheena to hide her otherwise rather noticeable gender.

Patience
General Personality: [Lady-like]
Upon first meeting Adelliana, she seems like the perfect young woman. She’s soft, sweet, and polite, with tentative eyes. She wouldn’t be caught dead using the wrong fork at mealtime, or hitching up her silk gowns to step through mud. She is almost always referred to as the Tarkheena Adelliana. In fact, the only people not inclined to use her title are her closest friends, who simply call her Lena. But anyone socially below her who doesn’t address her as Tarkheena is immediately shirked. She is also a strong believer in societal division and class separation due to her noble upbringing. This, however, has changes slightly over time. Adelliana has become used to the idea that people are equal, and only monetary differences set them apart. War has exposed her to the horror of death, so her prejudices are rapidly disappearing.
[ loyal ]
Though she has trouble bringing herself to trust very many, those she does hold all of Adelliana's loyalty. She is highly devoted to protecting those she loves, socially, and if need be, physically, and would do nearly anything for them. Foremost, she is loyal to her comerades, and then to the Inexorible Tash. At one point in her life, family meant everything and had Adelliana's total devotions. Now she resents the lot of them, and is rather
unloyal to them...
[ envious ]
Jealousy is what drives her. It makes her want to be prettier, be cleverer, know better people, be a better dancer, have more beautiful gowns, laugh louder and act happier. Jealousy is what fuels Adelliana’s life. In her younger days, Addy was never to be outshined. Attentions always had to be focused on her, else she was prone to throwing fits. As time passed, Lena became increasingly jealous of the power yielded by men. She was rather dismayed to see women taking a back-seat role in politics, and wanted to make a change in the world. Like men... but not.
[ determined ]
With envy as her driving force, Addy is determined to become the best version of herself as possible. Like any human naturally does, she hungers for self-assurance, not only in her appearance but also in her social standing. This has altered with time. Adelliana is still quite the determined young lass, though her motives have turned. Now, she wants to prove herself a good fighter, and not a wimpy little boy.
[ broken ]
Underneath the ladylike, composed, and slightly glamorous exterior, Adelliana is simply a conflicted child who tries to be strong. But she is weak. She’s torn. Her family means everything to her, but she’s not sure if she ever meant anything more than a pretty face to them. She grew up always being told she was best and as a result developed a need to be perfect in everything she does . And no matter the route she takes in her life, someone she loves will always suffer, be it herself, her father, her betrothed. Hurt by her father's apparent lack of care for his young daughter and her happiness, Adelliana made the rather stupid decision to run away.
[daring]
With nerves of steel, Adelliana ran away from the comfort of her life in Calormen. She defied tradition in order to disguise herself as a man- considered inappropriate by most cultures at the time. In addition, Lena/Dharr braved the desert to escape, and enjoys taking on some of the harder missions, in order to prove her worth.
Character HistoryParents:Tarkhan Ali Jazeer/ his concubine, Sharizhad Loraina
Siblings: There are far too many, those most are illegitimate
General History: Born to a man of noble standing and his wife/concubine in Calormen, Adelliana was brought up to appreciate the values of Calormen society. Servants ran everything, whilst the young woman lounged about, playing only with the finest of toys and being spoiled to death. While tutors were indeed provided, Adelliana's education was focused more on devotion to Tash, and storytelling- two traits that still commemorate her Calormen upbringing. However, the Tarkheena expressed an interest in reading and politics, and often listened to her father's policy making meetings, ear pressed to the door as she listened to men change the future of Calormen.
At the age of 13, her mother contracted a very deadly virus, and departed from the world only a few days later.Adelliana's father was heartbroken, and very uncharacteristicly for the man, resorted to alcoholism to resolve his problems. Wine, bourbon, gin- Anything with an ounce of alcohol in it and Tarkhan Ali would drink it. With many other women filling his harem, however, Adelliana did not go motherless. The other wives took it upon themselves to raise the girl properly, preparing her for the day of her imminent betrothal.
One night, her father was exceptionally drunk, and bet a visiting dignitary that he could beat him in a game of cards. The prize? The only thing Tarkhan Ali could think of at the time- his blossoming young daughter. Naturally, the intoxicated Tarkhan lost, and his daughter was informed the next day that upon her next birthday, she would no longer belong to him. Adelliana was shocked- She loved her father, doted on him even. But that he should gamble against her future? She could never forgive him.
Weeks later, it was decided that she should move to the foreigner's land- located within the confines of Calormen. The victor of the game had a nephew that was in need of a good wife, and thus it was decided that Adelliana would become the betrothed of some other Tarkhan. That utterly disgusted her. She wanted to make her own way in life, and not be gambled about. The night before she was to move to her betrothed's estate, Adelliana was blessed (by Tash) with an idea- She could escape the unfortunate marriage, and make a life on her own. An outspoken woman such as herself surely had no place as a housewife, therefore Adelliana wanted to forge her own future.
Midnight, and all of the harem asleep, Adelliana ran out of the room, carrying only some boy's clothing, some food, and her trusted steed. She cropped her once gorgeous curls into something resembling a masculine hair cut, and smudged soot onto her face. Wrapping went around her bosom, making the area flat and the effect was undeniable... She looked like a boy. A rather girly boy, but still male nonetheless.
Braving the desert, Adelliana rode long and hard until she made it through the dry, sandy arena. She had no idea where she was, but it seemed a decent enough place. But before she could settle down, she needed to make money. Darn. That was the one thing she did not in fact take from her escape in Calormen. Very few people wanted to hire a scraggly looking boy, though they did mention that the Telmarines were always looking for a fresh face to reinforce their troops. It was there Adelliana enlisted, and surprisingly enough was accepted. It was fortunate that she and her brothers practiced swordfighting at a young age, so she was not completely hopeless at warfare after all. And while suspicions about her now are low, the future is always changing, and not necessarily in the favor of young Adelliana.
Other/Notes: While normally a lovely little girl, Adelliana is in fact parading about as a lanky lad. (And a rather effeminate one at that.)
SampleRP Sample: (From another site I rp on)
The Lady Margaret Prewett had a particular relationship with animals. It went thus: She tried, she failed, they won
It did not matter, cats, dogs, birds, horses; they all hated the blond girl equally and sought to humiliate her regularly. Right back to days at the her childhood home, where her tutors would scold the young Mistress Margaret for having hands covered in bandages from cat scratches and dog bites, and she had learned young that it was not wise to put your fingers anywhere near a bird’s beak, and that they could take out a reasonable chunk of flesh if the mood took them. It was not her fault though. Margaret was just curious by nature, and friendly, and could not understand why on earth the tempermental animals would not want to be her friend. As for horses? Well, she had learned to ride fairly young, but part of the young lady's frequent distaste for the activity came from the fact that horses could cause a fair amount more damage that a cat or a bird and she had not wished to tempt fate. Indeed, back at home, she had owned one horse with whom she had managed to get along. Margaret though got the feeling that the old mare did not so much like her rider as pity her, friendly and tolerant as she was, but she was far away now.
“Please... Easy now... Please...”
Lady Margaret fancied that these horses liked being spoken to in English, not one of the other languages she had learned a little of. She really just wanted to go riding, to spend the day heading out into the countryside. Maggie had little business to be getting on with and it had been the advice of another that she get out of that strange, claustrophobic place that was the court, if only for a day. The Prewett Heiress was perfectly willing to take their advice and pondered that it might do her some good (Or indeed as much good as anything was capable of doing for her) not to be haunted each moment with the prospect of running into a face she either despised or loved or both. Not to be drawn into the sort of conversations which threw her nerves to the wind and caused her either untold amounts of stress or absolute boredom?
However, she considered while pleading with the obviously somewhat upset white and grey horse, she had no reason to think she would get on any better with this animal than any other she had come across.
Margaret took a slow and tentative step forwards; the horse moved also alike, shuffling further back in the stable. And they had told Margaret this one was friendly! The blonde took a deep breath, trying to mask her fear and stepped towards the animal once again. Now the horse was so far back that it had nowhere left to back into.
“Alright... It’s okay...”, Margaret crooned, trying to coerce the horse into at least letting her pet it.
“There we go... Alright... Now just stay there an-“
One tiny movement seemed to have set it off and the animal made a terrible high-pitched noise. Just a whinny really, but the Lady Margaret's nerves were frazzled enough that the slightest noise from the massive animal frightened her. She had let out a rather undignified yelp and rushed a little further away, supporting herself against the gate of an empty stall, waiting for her rapidly beating heart to slow down.
This really was quite hopeless!
