Mara walked barefoot along the lush trees, making her own path through the forest. Yawning, she rubbed her eyes, bags under her eyes and feeling like a weight was on her back. She hadn't slept for atleast forty-eight hours. Too excited about meeting other creatures that were in Aslan's How. Eyes heavy, Mara trudged on, dragging her brick-feeling feet. Putting her right hand on her forehead, she felt hot. How come I've never felt this way before? I know I haven't been out that long... What could I have done wrong?

She sighed, shaking herself in an attempt to wake herself up. Seeing a small stream, probably there by the rain the night before, Mara splashed her face with ice-cold water. Shivering and wet, she looked at her dress. It was as perfect as ever. It was a knee-length body-fitting silver silk dress. A V-Neck, with ruffles at the meeting point of the V. The sleeves were T-Shirt-like and had little ripples at the edges. Smirking, Mara got up off her knees, almost toward her destination.

The trees slowly thinned out, and in their place was a giant clearing, at the end a huge relic-like cave-ish building. "This is it..." Mara stepped into the clearing, wondering what she should do, go in the cave-like building-relic-thing, or stay out in the clearing and wait until someone eventually found her. A puzzled look on her face, Mara fought in her head which idea was best.

Swiftshadow was out surveying the damage that still remained from the storm, ready to offer her help if it were needed.  So much remained to be done! She hoped whole-heartedly that the dratted Telmarines had suffered the same amount of damage. If they hadn’t, and attacked now… well, the Narnians’ best chance in a century could be lost, and in the best case scenario, they might have to go back in hiding for another few decades before trying anything else.  It never crossed her mind that the Narnians would give up.

She stopped for a moment to help a few fauns foist up a fallen tent pole, before continuing on her way.  The clearing was full of creatures of all shapes and sizes, most working hard to set the camp to rights. A few of them, however, lazed around with no purpose, indicative of the lack of discipline in the camp.  Swiftshadow wrung her tail in frustration.  She wasn’t annoyed at any of the others in particular.  When Caspian had arrived, creatures had flocked to join the resistance against the Telmarines. Before, so many had given up hope, but a Son of Adam who seemed on their side renewed their faith.  The increased numbers was something she constantly thanked Aslan for, but it meant that a majority of their army hadn't any experience in military discipline.  She didn’t blame the newcomers for it, at least usually, but when she thought about the highly trained and disciplined army they would be fighting against, she couldn’t help wishing that things were different.

Lost in thought, Swiftshadow had made it to the edge of the clearing without noticing much of what was around her.  Now, however, she realized that a two-legged creature was standing in front of her.  At first glance, she assumed that it was a human.  She stiffened defensively at first – humans, even female ones, weren’t typically on their side – but then realized that the being in front of her was not human at all.  The other looked like a dryad.  But hadn’t all the nymphs fallen into a deep sleep long ago?  Yet while Swiftshadow had never met a dryad except in books, there was no mistaking what was in front of her eyes now.  She had to confirm it, though.  Her voice utterly steeped in awe (an attitude she rarely gave to any creature), she breathed, “Are…are you a dryad?”.

Deep in a puzzled thought, Mara suddenly looked up, completely bewildered by the centaur now standing in front of her. "Uh... Yes, I'm a dryad! And I think I've come to the right place... This is the resistance right? Smiling brightly, it seemed like Mara didn't know much of anything anymore. Feeling dizzy, she looked at the centaur, unable to speak, for fear of passing out.

This wasn't her usual self, and she didn't know what was wrong with her. Willing the beautiful half-horse to know what she was feeling, she felt herself giving out a power she had never known of before. It was almost like Mara had transferred some of her sick-feeling to the centaur, and then it was gone. The weight of whatever it was was back on her. Barely a whisper, Mara spoke, "Please help... I don't know what's wrong with me..." Breaking off, she had to put her cool hand on her hot forehead. What's wrong with me!? This has never happened before! Well, of course I was a tree.. But still! Ugh... Breathing heavy, she wondered what was to happen next.

OoC: Sorry for the short post!

“Yes, this is the camp.” What they really needed was more trained fighters, but they’d have to take what they could get. Besides, the creature in front of her was a dryad. They could definitely find ways for her to help. But how came this dryad to awaken? “Are there more dryads like you awake?” If so, it would be a very good sign. A Son of Adam as their king, Queen Susan’s horn found and blown, dryads awakening: all were good signs, and they gave her hope even as she looked at their undisciplined army trying to repair the ruin left by the storm.

Just then, Swiftshadow suddenly felt very dizzy and weak. She barely had time to register the feeling as sickness when the feeling resided. What was going on? As a healer, she knew the symptoms of sickness didn’t usually come and go like that. And then Mara spoke, and Swiftshadow realized what had happened. She didn’t realize that dryads could do that! But then, all she knew of dryads had come from ancient books. She’d have to study them more and see if there were any records that other dryads had done that... but not now. Right now, she needed to take care of this sick dryad.

“Oh! You’re sick! Were you out during the storm? Come, come, let’s get you inside the caves, and we’ll see what we can do.” Swiftshadow’s voice had turned firm and brisk, as it did whenever something needed to be done, but it was not unkind. Motioning the dryad to follow her, she began heading towards the caves and the medical supplies that awaited there.

"I-I don't know how many others of my kind are awake..." Mara answered the centaur. "I don't believe I caught your name... I'm Mara." And then confusedly, Mara thought, I've never been sick before... I don't think I like the feeling... I feel almost... Delirious! Following her, Mara kept quiet, not quite knowing what was going to happen next.

"Um... What are you going to do to me?!" Suddenly exasperated, Mara lost control of her calm, which she rarely ever did. Trying to calm herself, she took a giant deep breath. "I'm sorry... I'm just a little desperate..." With a half-hearted smile, Mara really was desperate. What if I came to the wrong place? What if this isn't real? What if I'm dead? A flurry of similar questions cascaded her mind. There were so many questions, and Mara knew only the answer to one: She was here.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mara. I’m Swiftshadow,” the centaur responded, rather distractedly. Her mind was busy going over what she knew about dryads, to see if she could remember anything about dryads getting sick and how to treat them.  Was something wrong with Mara’s tree, perhaps?  Swiftshadow would have no clue about what to do for that. Where was Mara’s tree, anyway?  On the other hand, the sickness had felt more like an animal sickness rather than a tree one…not that Swiftshadow knew how sick trees felt.

Preoccupied with her thoughts, she paid no attention to her surroundings as the two walked through camp.  If she had been, she would have seen the odd looks others were giving her.  Most probably thought she was walking with a human, and anyone who knew Swiftshadow knew that she didn’t really trust humans. Those who recognized Mara for a dryad, of course, stared because they’d never seen a dryad before.

Swiftshadow was brought back to herself when Mara exclaimed rather frantically.  “It’s alright, Mara,” she soothed.  “I’m not sure what we’ll do, yet.  It depends on why you’re sick. How long have you been sick? And where is your tree: how far have you traveled?”
