It's been
months since our last "weekly" update! While I highly doubt we'll begin posting weekly updates again, I do think it's past time for another update. So here are just a few updates/notes/reminders:
Board Revival: Can you believe the board is now over a year old? That's incredible; most RPG boards don't last nearly that long. We experienced a very slow time, to be sure, but we never completely died. And now, I can happily say this board is no longer dying! If you check the
board statistics, you can see we have definitely been revived. We have all four Pevensies and King Miraz again, and our plots are moving once more. Unfortunately, things have slowed down this past month, and I know that's partially my fault, as I've been so busy. But we're still doing much better than we were at the end of last year! More members are always wonderful, though, so don't forget to
advertise us! We especially need Telmarines and non-humans, especially Trumpkin and Lord (General) Glozelle.
Adopt-a-Character - We're proud to announce our new "Adopt-a-Character" board! Come check out the
announcement to find out about original canons and adopting characters. Note that as this section is new, we may be making small tweaks as we figure out what works and what doesn't.
Appearance Section on Character Application - This is just a heads-up that we've tweaked this a bit. You now should describe your character a little more when applying. Also, we've made the guidelines for who you can have portray your character a little more flexible (actually, it's always been like this, or nearly so, but it wasn't clear before).
Links in Signatures - If you could link to your character's application somewhere in your character's signature, that would be very helpful for people wanting to quickly know more about your character! Filling out the character entries in your profile (species, name, gender, notes) also helps.
Awards - Along with the board revival, we've also restarted Character of the Month awards! So don't forget to write your posts as well as you can, and maybe touch up your characters' applications a bit, to increase your chance of winning. Also, we should be restarting our quarterly
MVP award soon, so start thinking about who you're going to nominate!
Subplots - We do have the main plot, which is mostly (though by no means completely) guided by the book and movie. But what makes an RP like this one so much fun are subplots. We've had some wonderful ones suggested and even implemented so far (see
this topic for one of the current subplots, which involves an upcoming battle!). At any rate, this is just a reminder that you can come to the
Subplots topic or the
Plots and Schemes board to hash out interesting and intriguing subplots for our RP!
Activity Checks - In case you haven't noticed,
activity checks are now going to be given once a month. Also, you will now be marked inactive on your
third missed activity check.
Feedback - This is your board as much as it is ours, so we want to hear your opinions! As a reminder, comments, suggestions, and constructive criticism about any of the items listed here (or anything aspect of the game at all!) can be posted
here.
